A teachable moment indeed.

He's really not that smart, is he. I stopped watching 3/4 way through. His simplistic way of looking at and reasoning with what is happening in Europe was enough by that point.

Actually he's pretty damned smart. What you suggest is his simplistic way of looking at it, is rather him dumbing it down for OTHER people to get, cause a lot of people don't or won't.

And he wasn't wrong, either. Hell, just look at the reports coming out of Ukraine BY those same people who can't leave or are having issues at the border when they try. As he said, there's a lot of reasons why the West jumped in to help Ukraine, but if there was a 'stan' at the end, or it was Africa, there would have been less urgency.

That doesn't mean what's going on in Ukraine overall is not fucking horrible, a disaster and insane, but this is just bringing to light other things too that, as he suggested at the end, need to be realized and fixed.

Ignoring it will not help the problem.

First, if I was trying to leave Canada, and was stopped at the border and not allowed to leave, it would be the Americans stopping me, not the canadians. If poc are not being allowed to cross into Poland, that is on Poland, not Ukraine.

Of course if this was happening in Africa or a stan it wouldn't be the same. Thats obvious as hell. Its not some beg conspiracy and has nothing to do with colour. Its about how much it effects our countries and what the long term ramifications are. Russia invading Ukraine isn't just about this one country, anymore than Germany invading Poland was just about Poland. Putin is former kgb under soviet rule. Do you think he was over joyed when the soviet union collapsed? He has already stated that Ukraine is Russian soil. How many countries from the old soviet union do you think he still considers "Russian soil"? This isn't just about Ukraine, and anybody that uses the "what if" argument is an idiot.

If they're being pushed back by Ukraine forces at the border, then it's on Ukraine. I've heard of it being mostly Ukrainian border people preventing people from leaving.

Were you just hearing bits and pieces or what?

As it is, Beau has spent most of his videos lately discussing this affair and the ins and outs of it, with some of them actually saying what you just said here.

Pointing out in a video pointing out that there IS a disgusting reaction to people of colour at the Ukraine border not being allowed to leave isn't jumping into conspiracy. It's doing what is NOT getting out to very many places; sharing that the problem IS happening and despite the many reasons for Ukraine being a "need to help ASAP", there is some very real racism going on as well and to be blunt, if this were not a white European country, the West would still be dragging its heels over how to help/what to do. JFC it happens enough as it is.

I would say the USA and UK aren't doing enough they were the gaurantors of the non aggression deal of 1994 for giving up their nukes.

Ukraine Agrees to Give Up Its Nuclear Arsenal, Clinton Says : Summit: President hails the accord as a breakthrough, but it faces parliamentary opposition. NATO endorses the U.S. ‘Partnership for Peace’ plan to broaden alliance.

If you're in Ukraine as a student on a visa does that include a visa to enter Poland or Romania? No.

A Ukrainian doesn't need a visa to enter Poland but a Nigerian national on a Ukrainian student visa does even if they are white as snow.

You can 'say' whatever you want, that doesn't make it 'right'.

Also from that same article...

"The chaos in Ukraine, while possibly threatening the ability of Ukrainian President Leonid Kravchuk to carry out the agreement, also underscores the pact’s potential importance. It would allay Russia’s fear of a hostile nuclear neighbor and answer concerns that Ukraine’s nuclear weapons could wind up in the hands of other countries."

Guess you 'forgot' to mention Russia ALSO had a spot at that table.

He didn't forget. He just loves Putin and hates the United States, and that colors his perceptions.

How can anyone forget the treaty was for the freedom of Ukraine from the USSR with security guarantees over giving up their nukes

Ukraine declaring independence in 1991 single handedly broke up the USSR

Russia broke the treaty years ago and today Putin wants to be rewarded for it
