Canada won. Amazing game. Canada was behind 6-3, then scored 2, stole 1 then stole 2. China got 2 in the tenth then Canada put one on the dot to win in 11. It had to be an exact draw to the button and it was.

Thank you so much for this, Kreskin. I really wish I could have caught the game as the ones I have been able to watch involved some struggles for our guys. Over the top to know they came through as we knew China would be a real test for the guys. That last shot by Brad will give him and the team a wonderful boost going into the next round. Rock on Team Canada! :canada:

Game tied 1 - 1 after two periods. Carey had one get by him on a beautiful set-up play by Finland - darn it. Canada is playing well but the Fins are not giving anything up - they are playing good steady hockey.

CBC just showed Brad's last shot in the 11th, Kreskin. What a beauty!!!! The skill it took to place that rock where they did to out-count the Chinese rock - a matter of centimeters. I can just imagine the bolt of sheer joy that must have surged through the team when they knew they had done it. Well done Team Canada.

Drew Doughty wins the day for Canada in with an OT goal. 2 to 1 for Canada over Finland. Great win for our guys who are on to the quarterfinal. Rock on Team Canada.

Tessa and Scott were absolutely phenomenal in the short skate part of the Ice Dance competition - one of their best skates ever. They were flawless. Rock on Tessa and Scott - well done! :canada:

Is Crosby playing in this tournament?

both teams played a great game, and we shouldn't automatically think canada should dominate,
as finland is fast and good, and tukka rask who is bostons goalie is second to none, and as
far as crosby is concerned, he is being so responsible defensively, that he is taking away
from his own offense, but he did come forward more late in the game, and in the overtime.

drew doughty is very dominant, although i hate him in the nhl, i have respect for his ability,
and he is a force on team canada.
teemu salane is amazing still.

tavares is showing his intelligence and ability very well, i love his game in the nhl, and it is
great on this team too.
they are all good, no weaknesses at all, but we must respect the oppponants for their abilities
as well, this game was great on both sides.

no ettiquete about who one should cheer for, i will always cheer for the u.s. after canada, unless of course the standings dictate that it would
be a definite advantage for canada, pointwise, in the tournament,if 'another' team beat the u.s.

Slovakian goaltender has the badonk a donk. In slovakia butt hurt you!

Also some trivia, the stripes on the Slovakian jersey are actually the countries National Anthem written out:

Apparently that is OK, but the US women's goaltender Jessie Vitter was told to change her mask because it had the words "We the people" written on it.

National Anthems, OK. Wording from a National Constitution, badddd!

I'm torn...I love hockey and I love that the Canadian women are medal favorites but good gawd... This really shouldn't be in the Olympics. Calling it a third rate sport is being kind.

I hate to do the sour grapes thing.. but i'm going to anyway. ;)

I thought Virtue and Moir won the Ice Dance, especially the Free Dance convincingly. Their program was far more subtle, complex and introspective than that of Davis and White.. and more difficult in its integration of athletic and presentation components.

No doubt Davis and White were great and skated to perfection (like the Canadians did).. but their program was so uhhh.. American.. flash, pop, sizzle.. all about spectacle and showbiz. I got the feeling after the Short Program that barring some catastrophic fall.. there was nothing Virtue and Moir could do that wouldn't be outpointed by the Americans in the judge's assessment.

There were widespread rumours prior to the Games, sourced to unalligned but well positioned third parties in the sport, of collaboration between Russian and American judges, ensuring Gold to Russia in the team event in return for Gold to the U.S. in the Ice Dancing. I know the difference in the score (which was significant).. in such a close event smells of a fix.. and does NOT represent what happened on the ice. That also brings under suspicion the marks in the Team Event as well which showed a decided home country preference to the Russian skaters. Canada took Silver there a well.

In any event big congrats to both couples on their final performances after distinguished careers.

yes, i've been hearing a lot of chat on radio this morning regarding ice dance judging too. i am left with
nothing, so i choose to just enjoy the performances, as we, in the past, as well as now, don't know, and
have no way of knowing, so that leaves me empty concerning placings, so i disregard placings, and decide
that means nothing to me, as judges can and have decided things before hand throughout the years, and
if they did it now, or not, we don't know.

too bad any of these things have to be decided by a judge, as mentioned on the radio, maybe they need to
put a equestrian jump on the ice, and other obstacles which they have to clear, as well as dance, so that
there is at least something concrete that one couple might do to separate the performances more, so that
there is no chance of 'cheating'. lol

interesting thought!!!!!!

I caught this vid on CBC last night and thought it rocked. Well done by Jamaica.

Great effort for the Swiss team Canada 3 Swiss 1

Our ladies let up a bit too much in that game after getting off to a great start - they will need to work on their mistakes and the penalties. It really could have gone either way except for some of the best goal tending I have seen so far. Rock on Team Canada! :canada:

After the Americans took the short dance, Coldstream I was gobsmacked as Tessa and Scott did so well. I also had questions about the second Russian team who had several errors but got a fantastic score. I don't know about any fixes being in but I have to say some of those scores were way off the mark.

Tessa and Scott won the ice dance competition in my mind. I didn't even bother to watch after they left the ice. They have given Canada so much and I am so very proud of them. Rock on Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. :canada:
