I don't think "Take the pipeline up the ar$e or we'll blow up your comunities with oil-loaded trains" is really goping to work, myself. I foresee some PR difficulties wiht that approach.

Sure it will, it's a proven strategy perfected by the eco-Armageddon crowd

Yes oil is going to continue to drop the economy is going to suffer and the
myth that Harper saved us from something is going to be revealed. If the
economy is struggling and oil savages the treasury it is the responsibility
of government to raise business taxes to make up the difference average
Canadians are paying enough.

Awww, that's cute that you believe that only business taxes will go up to cover the shortfall

I heard this morning that the low oil prices mean that full-day kindergarten may be off the agenda again here in NL. Seems amazing to think that oil prices will affect my childrens' education

If they had a Plan B, like Norway does, then your concerns would be moot..........

There is no opportunity for a Plan B when you have Equalization Payments in the mix.

If only Harper had not designed and implemented the Equalization plan, eh tay?... We could have a Plan B & C.

PS - Love the Nazi reference above... It's so you

Harper?? The equalization only came in when western grain sales topped the manufacturing industry of the east. The only thing sent west from the east was empty grain cars and over-priced shoddy goods.

What is plan A? A is for ActionPlan.

We should call off the war with Russia and Saudi Arabia and return to plan A?

How did oil jump 66% in the first place? Was that Plan A?

Except for the electricity shortage in ON did we build what we needed to build with the extra 66% income from Plan A?

Govt has no plan B because Plan A was to be permanent?

Some Provinces knew Plan A (ActionPlan) wasn't going to last forever and built what was needed for the inevitable plan B.

SK is doing fine running on plan B. Is your Province?

AB will be just fine.

AB does not have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem. If revenues are now deemed too low, the solution is not to tax and spend even more.

'Action Plan' is a simple extension of Equalization under a different name... You can put lipstick on that pig all day, it's still the same old pig

Ancient history, Vancouver ports ship grain now also.
There is a point there though, food is still needed by the east and the closest place is the prairies so transport routes need to be well maintained for that and if used for that. Rather than bury Ontario with wheat they can't sell the prairies should plant what they want to and if the east wants to make use of that in some sort of manufacturing process then both sides will be making money if there are also exports. If no exports then one side eats extra well because they make the products that the food growers prefer to use. (ie cars that last 3 years instead of 30, just so the plants stay open.

ActionPlan money came from a $100bbl deal with the OPEC devil and the resources AB/SK to benefit all. I'm glad AB and SK don't have a crippling debt load. A Triple A+ credit rating is very sweet icing on the cake. We have nothing to worry about.

I have no issues with fighting ISIL and Neo-Bolsheviks. We screwed them hard. If that means a deficit for a year or two to forever cripple the goofs then so be it.

The Scots are damned lucky they didn't vote for independence...

Now Scotland wants tax breaks to bail out struggling oil industry... just four months after Salmond said North Sea would bankroll his independence dream

Ministers in Edinburgh have been joined by the oil industry in calling on George Osborne to use the Budget in March to offer help after the price of a barrel of Brent crude halved since June.

And we all remember the Scots Nats' dreams of an independent Scotland joining what they called "an Arc of Prosperity" which included Ireland and Iceland - and then things went tits up.

Hopefully the government will stem the losses by cutting social programs that high oil has been funding. Having a balanced budget and lowering debt is the most important thing. More money for freeloaders can come when the economy picks up.
