I do not like repudiating another person's view
in total, because invariably some of the points in
their argument are accurate.
The essential nature of any argument is that both
sides really do have a piece of the truth and that
gives rise to their passion.
They know they see something true.
So does the other.
And how can you cancel that ?
To cancel another person's view is showing them
you ignore some real points, very real to them.
The overall argument of someone else might be
wrong, but often the particulars are not or vice versa
the overall argument might be right, but the
particulars are not.
In the end, the argument, the search for truth,
the endless talking must give way to a decision.
And ITN, riddle me that !!
That's the riddle for all of us, eh ?
