umm.. to spend more than $1.1 billion of our tax money..?..Just what IS CBC's mandate? Other than bring Toronto's view to the rest of Canada?

No, you got it right on. That is CBC's mandate alright.
Too bad all Canadians can't decide what CBC's mandate should be, given that all Canadians pay their wages!!
The fundamental principle in a free market is that if you like something and you want it, then you pay and you get to buy it or use it.
But it you don't like it, you don't have to buy it or pay for it and hence you don't get to use it.
CBC, can do whatever they want, and if you like it, then you should pay to hear it.
If I don't like it, why should I have to pay for it?
I guess when you grow up with an entitlement culture, you lose the basic principles of what a free market does and how it works.

Spoken like a true eastern NDPer would like it to be!!A truly free market hasn't existed here in nearly a century. Actually come to think of it its never existed at all here. The government pays for lots of things I don't like, but it pays for stuff I do like. Its the nature of taxation. If you don't like it you can either vote for someone who will change it, lobby the people already in office or go to Somalia. They don't have taxes there. Its truly a free market there as anything goes.

Do you ever contribute anything useful to a discussion? You seem to only like to label stereotypes with ancient prejudices.
Should we stop accepting the American funding that comes from publicly funded radio that buys CBC programing, how about the cheques from Sirius or cable and satellite networks that cough up cash from global listeners?CBC, can do whatever they want, and if you like it, then you should pay to

We do still have a free market. We have no free market, so stop your blathering about free markets.
We do still have a free market.
He needs to look into something basic like being an egg producer to get a grasp on that. Our markets are regulated, with varied amounts of private and public ownership. That is not a free market.
