Who knows? I don't even have an army of loyal goons to perform my military coup yet. Hey does anyone know where I can get an army of loyal, yet expendable troops?

There's an army across the border, that will go anywhere, believe anything, and for the last hundred yrs or so seem to have been deemed expendable. Maybe they can help you out.

With children being taught to take short cuts such as that from such an early age - its hardly surprising that they don't take up any sports and spend their time indoors on their computers.

sorry for chiming in so late...

but yeah, i agree with you on this one. i see this all the time. i remember the days when i would walk to school in all sorts of crazy weather. mind you, my school was not that far away from me. but when i was in grade one, with little legs, it did take longer then it would now. still... the 15 minutes walk to school and back from school was great.

and actually, i loved it! i would spend that time day-dreaming and imagining all sorts of things. or i would walk and sing my way to school.

as a parent myself, i really do realize the benefits of leading by example. my husband and i try to stay active around our daughter. on weekends, we try to get out each day for walks and such. whatever we can to be on our feet as a family. hopefully, she'll just learn that being active is a part of life. just like eating and sleeping.

as for school buses and drop-offs by parents... one pro to that would be the fact that child abduction is on the rise. or at least... more media attention is focusing on it.

it's scary out there. even now when i take my toddler out, i'm leery at some of the strangers that come up to her and want to hold her. some just do not seem... right.

RE: Obesity on the rise i

5.89$ for a Big Mac combo here.

Anyways... Alot is too blame. Québec has been tring to takle the problem for the last 10 years now.

Also its been quite trendy to eat ''fancy'' here for the past 2 years. Obesity is droping, slowly.

How did that happen Big Mac :?:

Dunno Harvey, lets ask The King.........Hey Burger King......

Ah wimmin is smarter..........lets ask the Queen..........

(dairy queen ok)

All this askin questions is gettin tirin, lets go sit on our fat arses and watch TV or play some Vidio, or jerk off er somethin not too sweat producin eh!

Where the f##k do you people live :?: :?: Who the f##k are you :?:

Such bullshit :!: :!:

Take a walk past the local arena, and you'll see kids lining up to play hockey, or learn skating. In the summer the parks are full of kids playing organized soccer, softball, basketball.

A lot of communities have kayaking/canoing/swimming programmes for kids and adults, overattended every year.

Go for a f##king walk and you'll see a lot of other people doing the same thing, both kids and adults.

Take a self defence course of any kind.......They are FULL :!: :!:

Spend some time in any provincial park and see kids and their families doing some healthy outdoor stuff.

Some people tend to be fat, some don't. Some tend to get fat, some don't. Some can lose the fat, some can't, or wont't.

Some men and most ladies get heavier as they get older......Sorry ladies, fact of life there.......blame the hormones.

SOME men and women who get heavier as they age do so because they have worked their asses off for years, slow down as they age, and keep eating like they were working.......Doesn't mean they are lazy fat pricks.

Ancedotal evidence::::A lot of fat folks I have known have been plumbers, farmers, steamfitters,..........They don't really fit into the stereotyped mold you have been talking about.......Fat due inactivity or laziness.........Fat nonetheless.......Lets banish them
 How dare they live on our planet :!: :!:

You people might not feel quite so superior if you weren't so f##king judgemental. Wouldn't want that to happen. Keep on chuckin them rocks.

F##kheads :!: :!:

Oldnugley, that was well written and very funny. I prefer to not to judge others, I don't care what size you are, or race or religion. I am fond of accents it's a weekness of mine.

Not sure whether or not it has already been mentioned in this thread, but The Province (a newspaper published in British Columbia) today published a story entitled Pudgy PM 'sets a bad example', making reference to the Prime Minister of Canada. :) Apparently he's too chubby. lol.

Poor fellow, hell it's a middle age pot belly. It happens to the best of us. The large head is distracting don't you think.

Yes, the large, square-shaped head...

The Right Honourable Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P., is going to go down as the large-headedeset in Canadian history to sit in the House of Commons. Also, the only Prime Minister I have ever seen wear such a decidedly-pro-same-sex cowboy outfit. ;)
