Yeah, but only by a deeply divided electorate. The Republicans retained control of the House of Representatives. That means nothing changes. The House will block the Obama agenda.

Another four years of vicious partisanship. I hope Obama fails.
Well of course you do. The right is all about nonsensical power, at any cost, and don't give a damn about anything else. That's why under the worst economy since the 1930's they still couldn't win.

I was impressed with Romney's speech and composure. The guy has been after that job for nearly 8 years and will never get another shot. I doubt I would have been able to handle it as well if I had been in his place. I feel bad for him in a way. I also didn't know he was 65. I would have guessed he was 10 years younger. I guess the no drinking thing pays off in some ways.

I was also just joking when I said "as soon as its over they're going to start talking about 2016." Then they went off and did it and speculated about who may run in both parties. It really does never end. ABC said "Only another 176 weeks til the Iowa caucus."

Yep, I was impressed with Romney and I thought Obama's speech (missed the first part) was excellent.

Obama is merely the momentary physical embodiment of American leftism. The election is just one battle in a long twilight struggle.

He's a moderate democrat at best when it comes to the way he governs. There are people much further left in that party than Obama.

The classical liberal view is the type of conservativism that I espouse. That means adherence to the ideal of individual liberty. If you think that's nonsensical then ok.

And who would that benefit besides your misguided ego?
There are two competing ideals vying for power. Classical liberalism versus postmodern liberalism. That is what the election and political conflict are all about.

A lot of people said he would not get elected again, and he did. The electorate sobered up
they saw a long hard road and they decided to go down that road and do it the hard way.

By the time they are all counted it will be close to 125 million- the total population is about 320 million, there's probably 60 million who are too young to vote, and an equal number who don't give a sh*t, so I don't think the turnout was too bad.
The number that sticks in my head is 115 million registered voters. Almost 75 million under 18. The rest are either not citizens or have no voting rights (felons) and of course there are the unregistered and those who just don't vote.

Why? Opinion is guided by experience. Experience tells us that cooperation is no longer part of American political culture.

That is just being a follower and a very fatalistic attitude.

I hope Obama fails.

You really are an idiot!!!

Well that's not a very nice thing to say.

If Obama succeeds it means his agenda gets enacted. If Obama fails his agenda doesn't get enacted. I oppose Obama's agenda. Ergo...I hope he fails.

Just exactly what part of his agenda are you opposed to? The part that gives universal healthcare? The part that actually looks after vets? The part that raises taxes on those making over $250k/yr? The part that ends illegal wars and brings troops home saving billions?

Please do explain.

The election is over and it is time to move forward and make the economy and everyone's lives better. It is called being socially responsible even for a constitutionalist like me.

So what? That's like telling me that Stalin was less of a Red than Trotsky. Both were bad. Same for American leftists.

False equivalency if ever there was one.

By the looks of things the majority of the American electorate disagrees with you.

If Obama succeeds it means his agenda gets enacted. If Obama fails his agenda doesn't get enacted. I oppose Obama's agenda. Ergo...I hope he fails.

So you hope he fails to end the war in Afghanistan?

when someone is the victor, it is the lowest and most childish thing to say -" I hope he fails ", just
shows the true lack of spirit, and a person who has no interest in moving forward, but is just pouting
and sulking and being, as we call it, a sore loser.

I certainly didn't want romney to win, but had he, he would have received my congratulations and the
wish for he and his government to move forward and get things done, that is what life is all about,
get up on one's feet and progress, obviously you have now given up.

You might as well jump off a bridge, there is no hope for you.

Obama's speech was inspiring and shows his genuine desire to do just that, move forward.

'Congratulations to Obama, in spite of the failing economy, the people still saw
him as a strong president who will improve his presidency and the economy, he
had a big hill to climb, it was in poor shape when he took over, so now he has
another 4 years. What had to be done couldn't be done in one term, now he can
move the country forward.

I was very surprised to see Obama take Romney's home state, Eagle. That's gotta burn.

That's because Romney did a crappy job as governor ..... raised taxes, high unemployment.. Rick Perry should have been prez.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephan Harper said that Mitt Romney would be better for Canada.

Re-elected American President Obama said this to Harper

Careful - last laugh could be on the American voter..

Lets just see if Obama can now pull a "better economy" out of the hat..
