Sometimes, you need a bad parent.

Michelle Obama: My husband was 'the good parent' compared to Trump

Former first lady Michelle Obama likened her husband's presidency to having "the good parent" at home at a women's leadership conference on Thursday.

At the Simmons Leadership Conference in Boston, Obama appeared to take shots at President Trump's administration in remarks first reported by local TV station WBZ.

The Obama administration “was like having the ‘good parent’ at home," the former first lady said. "The responsible parent, the one who told you to eat your carrots and go to bed on time."

“And now we have the other parent,” Obama added. “We thought it’d feel fun — maybe it feels fun for now because we can eat candy all day and stay up late and not follow the rules.”

During the wide-ranging discussion, Obama also offered praise for Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic nominee and the first woman to secure the nomination of a major U.S. political party.

Clinton was “the best-qualified candidate," Obama said. "She wasn’t perfect, but she was way more perfect than many of the alternatives."

In her remarks, Obama also hit the low voter turnout for Trump's victory in 2016, saying that voters were not "willing" to go out and vote for Clinton, whom she said was likely the most qualified candidate in history.

"We've got to be willing, when we do find qualified people, to vote for them," Obama said. "And we didn't do that in this election."

"So I think people should be less ... disheartened that me and Oprah don't want to run, and more disheartened by the fact that Hillary Clinton, probably the most qualified person to ever seek the office of the presidency, lost. She lost."

Despite her recent politically charged remarks, the former first lady reiterated that she does not want to run for political office in the future.

"The reason why I don't want to run for president — I can't speak for Oprah, but my sense is that first of all, you have to want the job," Obama said at the same forum, as reported by NBC News.

"And you can't just say, 'You're a woman. Run.' And we can't look for women like that. We can't just say 'let's find the women we like and ask them to do it,' because there are a million women who are inclined and who do have the passion for politics," she added.

Oooo Michelle "the history revisionist" Obama. Now there's an unbiased viewpoint about her husband.

"So I think people should be less ... disheartened that me and Oprah don't want to run, and more disheartened by the fact that Hillary Clinton, probably the most qualified person to ever seek the office of the presidency, lost. She lost."
Funny that eh? Meanwhile, Barrack had called her the LEAST qualified candidate in US history when he was running against her for the DNC nomination.
So which is it? Is she the least qualified ever or most qualified ever? Which one is lying, Michelle or Barry?

Not that I don't believe you, but this is the first I've heard that he called her the least qualified candidate.

Got a link?

Well, well, well - So Michelle says her hubby is a better parent than Trump. My, aren't we judgmental. Isn't that a no-no for a lefty - being judgmental? Huh!

Are the Trump kids in jail? Do they have criminal records? Are they druggies? Um, NO! In fact, he seems quite close to his kids, considering they're quite involved with his business and/or current administration. I'm thinking if he was such a "bad" parent, they wouldn't have much to do with him at all.

Having said this, it takes two to raise kids and kudos to the mom because she obviously played a major part in who her children became as adults.

Quite frankly, Michelle should just stay in her corner and concentrate on her own life instead of speaking about stuff she knows little to nothing about!

That only makes sense if you want to raise a bunch of litte Barak's.. convention seeking, peer dependent mediocrities. I guess it makes perfect sense to Michelle.

Wow. The right-wing foaming at the mouth continues.

You know what? I'm getting really sick and tired of this "extreme" left and "extreme" right BS (mostly extreme right).

MOST people are neither; some may venture a little to the left or a little to the right but that does not make them "extreme". In fact, I believe it's become a dangerous precedent and one of the major reasons there is so much ugly discourse in the world today. The real radicals from both sides scream their nonsense dragging everyone that doesn't think like them as extreme when, in fact, it is they who are truly the extremists. It seems now that, according to the media, there are no centrists to be had and everyone is extreme, ESPECIALLY those of the "right" . Well, as the song goes, ...I'm a little bit country, and you're a little bit rock n roll...there are those who don't fit into either category.

I am willing to bet 95% of people are centrists and the remaining are split between the extreme right and left.

I think it's about time we all started objecting to being called the extreme label just because we happen to disagree and/or have differing view points. It's total B.S. and I'm going to start fighting against it.

I stand corrected. What was actually said in an Obama-approved attack ad was, "She will say anything [to get elected] and do nothing." The "least qualified" comment was added by someone else and not approved by the Obama campaign.
so I guess what Obama was really saying is, the most qualified candidate ever is someone who will say anything and do nothing.

Poor Jin. Comes to a political forum to discuss politics but doesn't understand politics.
What's to understand? It's full of hypocritical twats like yourself. Although you're also a hate-filled loser masquerading as a social progressive.
