No, the federal government doesn't recognize civil unions as the same thing as marriage, nor do other states have to recognize them, nor do they grant the same rights. And even if they were the same thing, yeah, equality in the same fashion as having two water fountains of no discernible difference, only one is for whites only, and the other for non-whites.
I agree, then we would never have to pay taxes, just wright everything off.. LOL

Two men are married, are they both husbands? I've never heard. There doesn't seem to be much terminology around this.
Here they discuss how the terms bride and groom might be removed from marriage certificates. Which doesn't make sense to me as gay/same sex marriages should have to invent their own words and adjectives for their new kind of marriage, not detract from the language we already have. But that would fit in with whites being inherently racist and sexist and changing the language would fix that. Through govt mandated actions of course, which corporations would support because it enhances profit as less trouble is better.

You still get a certificate from the State. Other than equality in a divorce what rights are included? The promise to stay through the rough times, financial and medical seems to be part of the 'contract', that isn't written in stone as can be shown by the busy divorce division of the Courts.
I assume the same contract is applied to a marriage done at the Courthouse or by the head of any Church. The term I am interested in seeing defined is mother and father rather than husband or wife.

The right to call yourself married carries a fairly substantial social punch. Many people go for the civil unions over marriage for that reason, and homosexuals want the right to get married for that very reason. Even if all else were equal, the fact that some person could come up to you and basically say, "Oh, your relationship with your partner isn't as serious as mine, you aren't even married" just by saying, "You aren't married, it is just a civil union," is a bit of slap to the face.

It seems to be some bit of surprise to some people that a politician would actually support something which may get him more votes. That's odd.
Most of the issue with same-gender marriage seems to be with the derps who thinks a religion has the copyright, patent, etc. on marriage and this is grounds for excluding a particular group of people from having the same rights as others. That's as archaic and regressive as the aggressive religions (Christianity and Islam) themselves.

Romney now says marriage is (and has always been) between one man & one woman. Yet, they say his grandfather had 6 wives.

Some Christian religions accept Same Sex Marriage - can the same be said about the other major world Religions - I will start with Islam as it was part of your reply.
