He is appealing. I assume when the appeal fails he will go back in.
If he loses, that's correct. This is nothing new. Wealthy, well-represented people convicted of non-violent crimes routinely get out on bond pending appeal. Apparently it's only a problem when the convicted is non-White and/or gay.
Or rich. This type of appeal usually isn't provided by the public defenders office.
