They were Philistines. And they disappeared as a distinct ethnic group by the late 5th century BCE. The Philistines lost their independence to Assyria and were subsequently absorbed into the Neo-Babylonian empire and the Achaemenid Empire.

Baal was a particular fave and in the Torah you can find evidence to that fact in the naming of children.
The latest research also points to the fact that the Israelites/Jews were in fact partially composed of Canaanites.
