That's because you don't understand the game and are only a passive observer. That is more appropriate for sports like hockey and basketball, not football or baseball

Certainly I am willing to accept that I do not understand the very simple game. I do know they wear helmits to limit your enjoyment of crushed heads. What kind of sport is that? They should play naked like in the old days.

Make them wear the same costumes city workers now wear and nobody would watch it.

Used to watch golf but I was always too drunk by the end to remember (or care) who won.

Home based Olympics would be a decent replacement although I would prefer the online VR version. The trick would be to get the fans to also be part of the game.
Red Skelton did a skit where he was standing on a ball and inside the ball was a long spring set up to match his weight exactly and he wore something like a pair of downhill skies and standing straight-up he could bounce up and down a bit. It got really interesting when he started leaning in some direction. Standing straight up he would fall over until his head was even with his feet in height and when he started to get into a crouching position the spring would start to lift him up into the standing position. Before it was over he was doing full circle spins and all sorts on trampoline type moves. Apparently I still want one.

Until then this would be a fun national sport.

The ball is a representation of the head of an opponent. The line is a barrier crossed by brutal execution of antiintelectual buffoonery, every contest should produce a definite weight of losers, broken bones dislocated appendages gouged eyes and swollen testicles, now that would be real TV. Ah the good old days.

So, NFL fans are participating in the game? How's that work, exactly?

Anticipation AKA armchair quarterbacking. When a knowledgeble fan watches sports such as football or baseball, they tend to strategize along with the game. "I'd throw a curve ball here" or "I'd run a prevent defense here". Faster games like B-ball or hockey tend to have passive fans that watch and critique after the fact. I like most sports and I like them each for the different experience of watching

Almost, the armchair QB would have built his own digital team as would his opponent and he plugs in the play and the computer runs the simulation and the result is based on physics rather than artwork. Building the team might be a community activity as the winners can probably sell some t-shirts or beer holders for their real fans.

You couldn't be an NFL fan or you would know what ticket prices are and how they are set.
Obviously you have been staying away.
;)
note the attendance on the cheapest games all year....more seats then people.

Well you truly defined yourself as a freedom hater

If the people in Cleveland aren't bothered by the Browns play on the field, I doubt a kneel down would get their panties twisted

The NFL has been on the flailing in some cities for several years. Up until few years ago the excitement amongst Canadian fans was that Toronto may get one of the failing American teams but I haven't heard that lately......
