How much longer can Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne blame former Premier Mike Harris for everything?
Imagine the CEO of a corporation trying to explain away a problem by telling the board of directors, “Hey, remember that guy who was running the place in 2003? It’s on him.”
But apparently that is Wynne’s position regarding finances in Ontario. Wynne was on Newstalk 1010 radio’s Moore In the Morning show Thursday.
Host John Moore said to her, “Whenever you announce a program I might think that it looks great, but how do we afford it?”
Wynne said, “I would argue to you that the deficit that was in place when we came in to office under the previous premier in 2003, we were dealing with billions and billions of dollars of deficit and that was slowing us down in terms of our economic growth. That was not allowing us to make the best of our municipalities, our communities.”
(Typical LIE-beral CRAP! Harris WAS on track with Ontari-owe debt till LIE-beral prime minister Chretien screwed him! Federal LIE-beral Chretien had hit the debt wall and solved his fiscal problems by ruthlessly CUTTING federal transfer payments to the provinces- with special cuts for Harris and Ontari-owe-right after Harris won the biggest majority ever given to an Ontari-owe premier- Chretien simply could not stand to see a Conservative be that popular! So federal transfers went from paying 57 percent of Ontari-owe health care budget down to 17 percent- a massive cut with NO warning!)
So how bad was it when both Mike Harris and his brief replacement Ernie Eves left office?
In October, 2003 the CBC reported that Ontario’s former Conservative government left the province with a $5.6-billion deficit, according to a retired provincial auditor, Erik Peters.
The Liberals claim today they will soon balance the budget but PC Leader Patrick Brown says the Liberals are hiding their deficit.
(Much has already been written to expose the “Hell`s Kitchen Budget” cooked up by Wynne-bag LIE-berals- the FAKE NEWS budget that HIDES their deficit behind stupid accounting tricks and one time solutions! And the latest news is LIE-berals are actually HIDING a multi billion dollar deficit behind VERY ODD accounting methods that are NOT TAUGHT in any legitimate business school!)
As the Sun's Lorrie Goldstein reported earlier this year, “Brown said despite Wynne’s claim of a balanced budget – the first since 2008 – the Liberals are actually hiding a $5-billion operating deficit. He said they’re covering it up with one-time sales of government assets valued at $1 billion, $2 billion from cap-and-trade, $1.5 billion in federal “Trudeau trust fund” cash and by counting $500 million in pension assets as revenue, an accounting trick rejected by Ontario Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk.”
(LIE-berals have already admitted that revenue from their Carbon crap and trade scam will be less than expected- which is a delicate way of admitting they cannot loot our pockets at will and hope to keep companies and jobs operating in Ontari-owe- LIE-berals will do as Europeans do and supply carbon tax exemptions to select businesses- most of whom will- I suspect prove to be staunch LIE-beral friends! Others have written already of how the LIE-beral hydro rate reductions LEAVE OUT an array of smaller/ non unionized Ontari-owe businesses!)
So how is it that a $5-billion deficit Wynne says they were saddled with 14 years ago has not improved under the Liberal’s wise leadership, while debt has increased from about $133 billion in 2003 to over $300 billion today?
(Yeah- same deficit and DOUBLE THE DEBT? With LIE-berals benefitting from federal transfers offered by Our idiot Boy Justin while Harris dealt with the sudden and near total LOSS of federal transfers! Yet LIE-berals insist they are good money managers and scorn anybody who suggests that LIE-beral vote buying and Hog entitlements are killing our economy! The ONLY difference between Cdn LIE-beral propaganda and the North Korean version is that North Korean govt shoots you if you laugh at them! In Canada- if you laugh at the govt propaganda- they just call you Islamophobes and systemic racists and make you pay tax money for studies grossly slanted to `prove` you are bad somehow!)
How is it that a $5-billion deficit was crippling to the province a decade and a half ago, but not today under the Liberals?
Who caused the financial mess we are in now? And for how many more decades can it all be the fault of former premiers Harris and Eves?
(And how is it the fault of Harris that LIE-berals have made so many HUGE pension promises to civil service Hogs! It is Hog greed that is killing us! LIE-berals have made promises to OSSTF/Ontarti-owe high school teachers totalling about fifty five billion dollars in pension promises- and we just do not have that money -especially not with eighteen other provincial Hog unions standing right behind OSSTF with THEIR hands out for more hundreds of billions of pension promises! Hog greed and LIE-beral vote buying are our fiscal enemy!)
Moore asked about job creation and Wynne touted her plan to work with industry to train young people. She said, “We are working with Siemens, a strong German company that has a tradition of having young people in to their workplace, helping to train them.”
In July, Siemens announced plans to close a blade factory in Tillsonburg, Ont., cutting 340 jobs in the process.
(Oh well- LIE-berals are far more interested in announcements than they are in actual reality! Otherwise they would recognize that the ONLY jobs they are creating are CRAP- low wage-short hours- no benefits- short term- etc. Federal LIE-berals went so far as to tell our kids: “nbtter get used to this McJob Market as it is not going away any time soon!)
It has made similar cuts at several different plants in the U.S.
In May the company cut 1,700 jobs in Germany.
What exactly is the company going to train young Ontarians to do?
(Alert young people are being shown how socialism works and are learning that LIE-beral policies such as relentless vote buying and social engineering are things to be scorned!)
At least Seimens wasn’t blaming Mike Harris for unemployed Germans, Americans and Canadians.
(One good thing in all this LIE-beral mess is that the number of Cdns who are likely to decide they WANT to vote in the next election may be soaring! Previously over 50 pecent of Cdns did not bother to vote- leaving the political field to be dominated by LIE-berals and their Hog allies- but this formerly silent majority holds the fate of LIE-beral govt in their hands- and LIE-berals know that Cdn tempers are flaring- and it scares the crap out of them! Bankruptcy is a great motivator of otherwise bored and apathetic voters!)

UP Express subsidy under fire as Metrolinx chairman called government review 'unwelcome'.
Arrogant. Out of touch. Thin-skinned. Out of control. How else can you describe Metrolinx, the troubled agency that was supposed to take transit decisions out of the hands of politicians? They were supposed to be arm’s length in order to make informed and rational decisions about transit.
Clearly, from an e-mail obtained by Toronto Sun political bureau chief Shawn Jeffords, they’re anything but.
The Metrolinx tail is wagging the political dog. The agency that’s supposed to be working for us and accountable through Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca is apparently telling the minister what he can do with his oversight and scrutiny.
Over the last few years, Jeffords has worked tirelessly to hold Metrolinx accountable through a series of freedom-of-information requests that have exposed scandals such as their sponsorship boondoggle, where Metrolinx purchased tickets to sporting events.
(As I have said before-Metrolinx is a TYPICAL LIE-beral creation that thinks it is grossly entitled-and only too happy to share the gravy with other like minded Hogs!)
Without knowing the nature of Jeffords’ story, Metrolinx President and CEO Bruce McCuaig sent an e-mail to Chair Rob Prichard.
“The story might focus on some of the people who have used the tickets and their links to the Liberal party,” McCuaig wrote on Aug. 15, 2013, days before the story was published. It was wild speculation and demonstrates a sensitivity bordering on paranoia about the story.
In fact, Jeffords focused on the program, making no mention of any party links.
In a story in Tuesday’s edition of the Sun, Jeffords has unearthed a letter from Prichard — chair of the high-profile law firm Torys — suggesting intervention by Del Duca is “unwelcome.”
Del Duca had ordered a review of Metrolinx in the wake of devastating revelations by the Sun’s Antonella Artuso about the ludicrous cost of UP Express uniforms and other costly blunders by the agency.
(Again-I point out that Metrolinx Hogs are convinced of their ENTITLEMENT!)
“The minister did speak to me in advance to alert me to his intentions, which I appreciated,” Prichard says in the March letter.
“He did substantially soften and constrain the breadth of his intervention in response to those discussions over the last three days.”
He also talks about “rehearsing” issues from the sponsorship scandal, “which we long ago fixed, but still attract media and Question Period attention.” I think he meant rehashing.
Are you kidding me?
(Yeah, I think Prichard said it right the first time when he spoke of REHEARSING! Its always best for LIE-berals to get their story straight BEFORE meeting the media rather than doing it DURING a media scrum in front of the world!)
A cabinet minister tries to hold an agency with a spotty history of competence to account, and he’s persuaded to scale back that review by the chief cheerleader for Metrolinx.
(It was former LIE-beral premier Dalton McGinty who warned us it was time for LIE-berals to start picking economic WINNERS and LOSERS in Ontari-owe-right after he was elected to that second term! And Wynne-bag seems to be following the McGinty pattern CLOSELY-and we know who the winners are in LIE-beral land!)
So the review has been watered down. From being a meaningful accountability exercise, it’s now merely a whitewash to placate opposition critics and the media. Prichard has completely undermined the review. It absolves him of any suggestion of wrongdoing before the inquiry’s even started.
According to the Sunshine List, Prichard makes $146,000 for his part-time job. McCuaig makes $361,000.
For that kind of money, we should expect better.
Metrolinx has been plagued with these kinds of fiascoes since its inception in 2006.
It has been the focus of numerous auditors’ reports, yet nothing gets better.
In 2012, then auditor-general Jim McCarter reported the cost of delivering the Presto smart card to Toronto-area commuters had nearly tripled to $700 million and said it might be the most expensive such card in the world.
(I wonder how auditor McCarter got away with making such a statement about the costly Presto card while auditor Bonnie Lysyk got called ignorant when she pointed out the flaws in the Ontari-owe- not so- Smart Meters? As the LIE-beral generated economic storm washes over the province we can expect ever meaner comments by LIE-berals as they seek to deflect blame for their fiscal tax and spend madness!)
Metrolinx claims the costly presto card readers are now running well-in spite of earlier complaints but a March 2017 test by City tv reporters found that 5 of 7 card readers at one randomly chosen station were broken! And the situation was not much improved a week later in another test!)
And he warned that over-charging for the UP Express would result in sluggish uptake by passengers. He was correct on all accounts — but ignored by Metrolinx.
Now, thanks to Jeffords. we know why: the transportation ministry is taking its marching orders from the agency it’s supposed to be managing.
Enough’s enough. It’s time to clean house at Metrolinx and get some managers in there who are accountable to their political bosses. Because if they’re not accountable to them, they’re not accountable to us — the taxpaying, transit-taking public.
(I say we should face the truth here: Metrolinx is a TYPICAL LIE-beral creation staffed by people who BELIEVE they are ENTITLED to be at the top of the Sunshine LIST of high govt earners! The one good thing about Metrolinx is this” they have COMPLETED THEIR WORK and they can be DISBANDED! FIRED! CANNED! They have studied our transit system six ways from Sunday and produced all manner of plans ranging from `pie in the sky` to sensible and logical and since there IS NO MONEY TO BUILD ANYTHING-there is NO reason for MORE STUDIES! KILL METROLINX NOW! Forget the govt `review`-we all know it will be a whitewash anyway-just DUMP THE PIGS!)
(The worst of it is this transit mess has tentacles that run in all directions. Lie-beral prime minister Trudope-he of the nice hair and weak fiscal understanding- gave Toronto Transit Commission about 155 Million dollars this spring for `repairs` to TTC system. And as we know federal LIE-berals are desperate to KEEP union votes in Quebec-and several govts have pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into Bombardier Quebec-the company that just happens to be years behind on its contract to supply TTC with new streetcars and subway cars. Things got so bad TTC wanted to SUE Bombardier because of all the extra costs they were incurring. But that was before the 155 million LIE-beral gift-should we ask if TTC has been BRIBED not to embarrass Bombardier and LIE-berals by launching a lawsuit? Just how much careless contract handling can Cdns really afford?)

Let there be no confusion about who’s responsible for the fact Premier Kathleen Wynne’s government is going to hide the cost of cap-and-trade on residential home heating bills starting next year. The Ontario Energy Board has ruled this added cost will be buried in the “delivery” charge line of natural gas bills, instead of being broken out as a separate item.
(And of course the Energy Marketing Board is staffed by has been LIE-beral pals who do as they are TOLD by LIE-beral govt-so blame goes straight back to McWynnty-The Great Whore who has sold herself, her party and our future to the civil service Hogs! So it’s the Whore who has hidden Carbon costs from us!)
Thus, consumers will have no way of knowing from reading their bills whether they’re being charged the average $5-a-month increase the Wynne government predicts will be the initial cost of cap-and-trade for home heating.
(Here is a fun fact: Enbridge Gas has just applied to have a rate increase that will hit the average home owner by 6 to 7 DOLLARS permonth-ADD in the 13 percent HST and a rate increase to Enbridge of $6.50 translates into a new bill that`s over FORTY PERCENT ABOVE the cost LIE-berals are claiming!
(Given LIE-beral assurances regarding costs of gas plants, E-health, ORNGE and Mars building the CLAIMED five dollars per month is more likely to end up as five dollars a week-and will rise quickly from there! LIE-berals are DESPERATE to find more money so they can continue to BUY the votes of civil service Hogs. LIE-berals simply CANNOT get elected without this aid!)
Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault defended the government’s decision Thursday, saying it was up to the OEB to decide the issue.
Nonsense. The OEB isn’t the government. It’s an agency of the government and since Wynne and the Liberals have a majority at Queen’s Park, the decision is theirs alone. It is Wynne and the Liberals who have decided not to follow the example of B.C. and Quebec, which include the cost of carbon pricing as a separate line item on home heating bills.
It is Wynne and the Liberals who have decided to ignore requests from utilities and industrial natural gas users to break out the costs of cap-and-trade on home heating bills so they won’t be blamed for them.
Claims by Thibeault Thursday that the Liberals are being “very open and up front” about the costs of carbon pricing to Ontarians are laughable. Previously, they didn’t tell Ontarians the 13% HST would be added to the cap-and-trade charge on their home heating bills — effectively a tax-on-a-tax — until it was uncovered by CTV reporter Paul Bliss.
The same thing — a tax on a tax — will happen with gasoline prices, which the Wynne government predicts will increase by 4.3 cents-a-litre initially due to carbon pricing.
In fact, the HST will apply to the carbon prices imposed on all goods and services which use fossil fuel energy — meaning most of them — since cap-and-trade increases the retail price of products to which the HST is then added.
The only thing transparent here is that Liberal claims of being transparent on carbon pricing are transparently absurd.
(We ought to be VERY fearful of this carbon crap and trade. The final cost is HUGE as Ontari-owe has joined in with California and Quebec in this bullshit. Meaning we will PAY multiple times for anything we need. We will pay carbon pricing for fertilizer and fuel needed to plant and then harvest those masses of vegetables we get from California. Will pay more carbon costs to ship the stuff here. Will pay again for carbon from natural gas for the heating of stores in winter and will pay again for the natural gas used for generating electricity. And will pay again for heating our homes by any means-both natural gas and electricity generated by natural gas WILL be carbon priced! In addition, thanks to previous federal LIE-beral Milk Marketing Board choices, much of the milk and cheese we consume comes from Quebec and all the same costs for carbon for producing and shipping milk and its by products to us will be hit. Three separate govts-the three MOST INDEBTED in all of North America-and each DESPERATE for MORE GRAVY! What do you think the REAL COST of Carbon crap and trade will be? And will such GREEDY HOGS EVER admit the full truth-that their Carbon Crap and Trade scam is the biggest tax ripoff in Cdn history?)
(Even WORSE is this-the LIE-beral plan is a carbon copy of the European Carbon plan. The European plan was exposed as a massive FRAUD over a decade ago! It DOES NOT clean the air-it just cleans the wallets of ordinary people! It also allows for MASSIVE criminal fraud in the sale of carbon credits and in rigging the stock market value of companies buying or trading in carbon credits by organized crime. European carbon credits are being manipulated by the same sort of people who brought us the 2008 sub prime mortgage melt down!

The anti Semitism, the support for Adolf Hitler and for Joseph Stalin, the open admiration for certain French philosophers who were notorious for collaborating with the Nazi invaders, the open condemnation of the war against Nazi Germany that Our Pet scorned as “British Imperialism”. Later on, Our Pet condemned himself by heaping fawning praise on Chinese Chairman Mao in his book “Two Innocents in Red China” for- as Our Pet called it- “Mao`s genius in rushing 30 million people to the gallows”- in his book! Former Ontario Liberal deputy premier George Smitherman says the party had to “poach” a well-known NDP politician in Sudbury because it has lost touch with the grassroots.
(This “poached” NDPer is one of those at the heart of the recently dismissed Sudbury LIE-beral bribery scandal!)
In a Facebook post, Smitherman criticizes the “leader” – presumably Premier Kathleen Wynne – for suffocating the grassroots in his old riding of Toronto Centre.
“These last couple of months I uncovered a terrible truth about today’s Ontario Liberal Party,” Smitherman said in the post on Monday. “The grassroots have all but died off.”
Smitherman, a former health and energy minister who resigned his provincial seat for an unsuccessful Toronto mayoral campaign, referred to the 2015 byelection in Sudbury, where NDP MP Glenn Thibeault was successfully wooed by the Ontario Liberals to run.
In that case, previous Liberal candidate Andrew Olivier was told that Thibeault was the preferred choice of Wynne.
“Just like in Sudbury, rather than do the heavy lifting and nurture the grassroots, the leader’s preference is apparently the same, that is poach a politician from another party and hope that name recognition carries the day,” Smitherman wrote. “I think that luck is going to end badly for the Liberals.”
(The optics look even worse when it becomes known that Wynne allegedly did not want Oliver to run again- he had been elected previously as a LIE-beral in a tight race- but because he is wheelchair bound and she figured he might not be up to the tough campaign this time around! Such is the LIE-beral devotion to concepts like loyalty and morality that they dumped the gimp and borrowed an NDPer as replacement!)
When reached by email Tuesday, Smitherman said he is working on a book, Unconventional Candour, to be released in time for next June’s provincial election.
Smitherman said in his post that although another run at provincial politics holds a certain appeal, he will campaign to fill the vacant Ward 28 Toronto Centre Rosedale seat at Toronto City Hall next year. He had announced his intention to seek that position prior to councillor Pam McConnell’s recent death.
Smitherman said the best part of his work as a provincial politician had been in the riding, helping residents with local concerns.
A response from the premier’s office was not immediately available.

Why would that bother you? Close to 8 hours of your time at the bottle depot is wasted on a daily basis!
The point being that oh how times change- used to be that being semi literate and unable to comprehend a detailed report was something to be embarrassed about! But now LIE-berals make it a virtue to be illiterate!
And here is another one illustrating LIE-beral waste and foolishness!
Oh lord I am truly SICK of those stupid Metrolinx commercials…..each one telling us what manner of public transit they envision us needing and them building……all those endless studies on what they might build and where; all those surveys on what we want or might most likely use! All that money for commercials and what have those donkeys built? NOTHING! And what are they likely to start building any time soon? NOTHING! The former Toronto City council was badgered into agreeing to build the Eglinton LRT and a subway by current Mayor Ford! Sadly, Ford WAS able to get Eglinto LRT started by short circuiting the city hall gravy train for a while but he died before getting a subway started!
And of course subways are the real choice of people who actually USE public transit! Subways carry more people faster than an LRT. Subways are not affected by a building fire or a major intersection being blocked by a tanker truck accident. A sniper can climb into a tower and blast away and the LRT will close down but the subway will continue to RUN!
And what good are all those expensive Metrolinx planners? The ones working on all those pie in the sky jackass John Tory not so smart track plans! And the `subway to nowhere`-that would be the Sheppard line with its three stations…..carried twice as many people as its planners expected in its first year of operation and continues to carry more people than expected! So there is reason to FIRE all the damned Metrolinx planners, fire the public relations twits, fire the advertising dorks sucking up public money to tell people they will be stuck in traffic until somebody builds new transit and use the money saved from firing Hogs to begin building something- like put another station (or THREE!) on the subway to nowhere as a start!!!!
And somebody should point out to the twits at Silly Hall that the best way to get people out of their cars and onto public transit is to build a flexible and reliable system- currently one single problem shuts down large sections of the existing TTC system and leaves people standing in cold and rain or snow for hours waiting for a TTC response (shuttle busses) that are VERY slow coming due to the system already running over its limit. A car offers alternates-if one road is blocked? No problem-switch to another road-the new TTC system that is to be built MUST offer more flexibility and alternate routes or people will stick with their cars!
