Hey Check out our new political comic.

It's all about Doug Harper. Stephen Harper's long lost brother. The first one just went up, and there will be plenty more as the election goes on.
We'd love to hear your feedback.

Check out the comic here.

It's Doug! Stephen Harper's Long Lost Brother

Doug's Bio:

Doug Harper is the long lost brother of Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Doug and Stephen were extremely close as children, but a rift formed between them in the mid 1970s following an argument over which Bachman Turner Overdrive album rocked harder.
Doug left home in the wake of that argument, swearing that he would never speak to Stephen again. After that Doug spent years drifting around the country, helping strangers and solving mysteries. He was kind of like the littlest hobo, but instead of a warm furry coat and piercing blue eyes, Doug has adult onset diabetes. Eventually, after years of wandering Doug landed himself a good job up on the Alberta oil sands.
To the surprise of their whole family Stephen and Doug recently patched things up at cousin’s wedding where — eyes filled with tears— Stephen conceded that BTO’s “Not Fragile” was indeed the most epic Canadian rock album of all time. Stephen and Doug’s relationship is still a little rocky, but they’re trying to make it work. That’s why when Doug heard that an election was being called, he decided to hitch hike from Alberta to help with his brother’s campaign.

A successful comic strip is usually funny on its own individual merit... you shouldn't have to wait for the next installation to see if it gets funny. This one just seems, erm, pointless? Hope the future ones have more to say.

No. I didn't you got a link to the story? Always up for some Harper background.

There was a CBC Radio documentary about Harper's NB roots. If I recall correctly, his grandfather was a teacher or principal in Moncton, and was getting in some sort of trouble, and then vanished, completely, leaving his wife and kids. It seems to have had a profound effect on the father, who I believe left for Toronto. I'll have to look for a link to the show.

Thanks for the feedback Karrie. I agree that the humor was pretty limited in this first one, but we are trying to set up a pretty tight story arch to coincide with the election so we had to make sure we firmly established the premise. Check back in a few weeks and tell me if you like the story as it unfolds.

A driver is stuck in a traffic jam going into downtown Ottawa. Nothing is moving north or south.

Suddenly a man knocks on his window.

The driver rolls down his window and asks, "What happened? What's the hold-up?"

"Terrorists have kidnapped Michael Ignatieff, Dalton McGuinty, Jack Layton, Gilles Duceppe,

and Prime Minister Harper".

They are asking for a ten million dollar ransom....otherwise, they are going to douse them with gasoline and set them on fire. We are going from car to car, taking up a collection."

The driver asks, "On average, how much is everyone giving?"

"About a liter!"
