The main point is, it is NOT the providers job to ensure you "top up" your account on time. It is yours. Any "refund" they give, for YOUR mistake, should be considered a bonus.

I was new to cell phones and high falutin' technology at the time, being well over 60. I made an honest attempt to comply with their suggestion of submitting a c.c. account # but I guess I thought the transaction was complete when it wasn't. Reputable companies go the extra yard to accommodate doddering customers, not put some rude shrill bitch on to rip me off.

Well we are upgrading our but I will ensure they have a Sim card - works on GSM - go away, buy a local card and off you go. No roaming over the hill bills that you hear horror stories about from people traveling and using their Canadian phone etc in Europe.

I hope this is the right way to go. Any ideas / suggestions are welcome.

Rogers is a company that one should avoid at all costs. I for one like Telus, I have had good
service and I find them to be fair when a problem arises. My wife has Rogers what a pain in
the *** well you get the picture. I am paying out her contract to get rid of these people from
our life. I use Shaw for cable and Telus fo phone. The only problem I have with Shaw for the
Internet is that they put this mega speed service on every now and then without consulting the
customer first and my laptop slows down every time. Not enough to get me to switch but it
ticks me off. The other thing I got rid of on Telus was text messaging. I had a problem getting
rid of it but they did it for me. My opinion, phones are meant to talk on, and I hate like hell people
sending messages and my phone makes all kind of noise until I answer it. I hate text and I
don't answer them, now I don't have to worry about it.
I have heard stories about Bell good and bad, don't know what the truth is there, but Rogers are
something to avoid.

Bell Mobility's $15 prepaid cards that expires in 30 days is absolutely bad. For Bell Mobility, a better choice would be the $100 prepaid card that expires in 365 days but $100 is a lot to pay up front.
