Doesn't matter who they pick the unions have given up on the NDP

Thats because the out to lunch government employee unions are the main backers and definitely do not have the best interests of joe and jane lunch bucket at heart. For the most part the interests of big business and big union are intertwined.

Yep, Unions are just like a 4th level of Gov't. with their snouts in trough, leeching off both the employee and the consumer. Part of the reasons prices are so high to compensate for f*****d up product.

What difference does it make if unions are with the NDP or any other party? I imagine the same rules apply to them as to corporations when it comes to donations. (May sound naive, but thats my guess)

Plenty. Many people do not follow politics and do not care. They will blindly vote whatever their union leaders tell them to. A blind adherence to socialism is not necessarily in the best interests of working people even though there are many dedicated socialists that belong to unions. Their hearts may be in the right place but their grasp of basic economics is at kindergarden level.
Simple economic primer for those that insist business does not pay its fair share of taxes:
It is a fact that business does not pay any tax. Never have and never will. To a business income tax or for that matter any other taxes or fees are an operating cost that is added to the RETAIL price( thats what you the consumer pays). So in effect all raising business taxes does is make products more expensive and life harder for the poor.
Now when business taxes get too high no one can afford their product and one of two things happen, either the company moves to a lower cost place to operate if it can or goes out of business. Either way we loose the jobs.

You might want to revisit that analysis.

Small business', corporations, etc. contribute the bulk of the tax dollars into the system, much more than the contributions of the collective of individuals in the population. Considering that a corp is basically considered an 'individual', it is treated in a like manner by the CRA... In the eyes of the tax dept, it is more more level of tax-transaction from which they glean dollars. Granted, corp entities are capable of more access to write-downs, but they never recapture the full value of those deductions (dollar for dollar), that's where the gvt generates their cut.

While I appreciate that it is the end user (consumer) that foots the bill for everything, the reality that competition forces prices in a specific direction is what really drives the bus in this equation.

This was meant to be a very simple explanation of taxes relating to business. But the bottom line is that all business taxes are passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices which makes everyday living harder for the poor.

No doubt... It's an excellent example of the bait-and-switch that our gvt does every day
