It would make sense, much of the deregulation on Fish Farms are said to be very harmful, many of the “new” farms are from Norway where the regulations are much higher.

RE: NDP Have BIG plans in

Today, the Province newspaper reported that the BC Liberals have used a government website - which is supposed to be strictly neutral - to promote Liberal election propaganda!

And usually that paper is very anti-NDP.

Passing the buck on the Feds also make the current Government look poorly, if our current government can not negotiate adequately with the Feds on our behalf then maybe we need to look elsewhere.

If you recall, all of the premiers had a conference with the FEDS and Klein walked OUT! you cannot negotiate on a province by province basis. The feds cut health care spending LONG AGO, and still havent restored it to its original levels.

Its easy for you to BLAME the current gov't for our health care woes, however, the FEDS have a major stake in this (they get the majority of our tax dollars).

We are kind of off topic here but this is definately an issue that nobody seems to be discussing in either provincial campain!

So why is it Fed Liberals cannot work well with Provincial Liberals? That aside Klein in many respects is a loose cannon, a loose cannon that Gordo has followed in the foot steps of.

I think the fish farm issue is a big one. The liberals allowed fish farming to flourish in this province. In 2002 the liberals lifted the 7 year freeze on new licences.
A few years later and plenty of fish farms more than 30,000 Atlantic salmon escaped through a tear in their net pen.
The farm was owned by Stolt, a Norwegian company, the biggest player on the coast. The minister of fisheries did not lay any charges, even tho this was stolt second offense.

Documents that were leaked showed that the ministry of the environment wanted charges laid againist stolt.

This is a quote http://pse.ca/

I think the feeling was everything was being kept under wraps here,” says Mike Romaine of Public Service Employees for Environmental Ethics. Romaine is not on the inside, but he speaks for people who are –whistleblowers that want to talk but can’t because of government gag orders.

Stolt wanted the investigation stopped. What occured next is avalible to anyone that want to read them. Emails and letters between the fisheries and stolt. John Van dongen was forced to step aside. His replacement stan hagen was also involved in it.
I can provide you with a link important if you want to read the email exchanges and the coverup.

a. in case you are not aware: The Provincial Liberal Party share a name only with the feds. (if anything, the Provincial Liberals should change their name as they have nothing to do with the feds)

b. Klein runs the most succesful province in the country - highest average hourly pay, and no provincial debt, not to mention no sales tax, so I wouldn't be critisizing that guy too much!

I am aware but what has that have to do with the fact that Provincial Liberals and Federal can not work together?

If your claiming that Klein's cowboy politics would work well in BC I think I'd have to say I doubt it. Alberta is and has been for a long time a HAVE province where in BC we have moved into the HAVE-NOT category.

Because the feds have mis-managed our taxes for years, and now they are paying billions in interest charges!

I wonder why that is?!?! 10 years of morons running the province perhaps?

PEI...for now
...highest average hourly pay...

It's not the highest hourly pay that counts.

While many in alberta usually make a decent amount working at the oilsands and camps it's usually unionized, and full time isn't a common option. The majority of Albertans work closer to the minimum wage bracket. (I was lucky to make 9.50 an hour there in non-rig jobs)

What should count in regards to the hourly pay with the provinces is what province has the highest minimum wage. It shows that the gov't is putting more effort in creating an easier standard to live by for as many people as possible.

:D yay! Nunavut wins!

 OK never mind, the link is acting fussy...any search engine will take you to that site...it seems to work that way.

Let's try this instead. (hint: it's the first choice)

Correct, but for the last ten years with Paul Martin as finance and PM we haven't taken out any new loans to pay the interest. The most in Canadian history. That is probably the main reason I am pro liberal, they can balance budgets and are slowly paying down the federal deficit.

Pretty easy to balance the budget when you cut your transfer payments by Billions! I am off topic here, but don't get me going on the FEDERAL LIBERALS!

The FEDS OVER-TAX us for the services we receive from them. Did you know that the FEDS only account for 10% of the funding for the total health care cost across Canada? People don;t scream at the feds though when they think that there is a problem with our health care. Then they piss away money on the most ridiculous things such as HRDC ($1BIL), Gun Registry ($1.1 BIL and climbing rapidly), Adrian Clarkson ($40 mil/year), just to name a few small specs of sand in the sand box!

We'd be better off giving 100% of our tax money to the provincial gov't - we'd all have doctors living in our houses!!!

field day all you want - fact of the matter is - the NDP destroyed BC's economy in the 90's! If they were to have a repeat [the NDP], I'm not sure that BC could ever recover from the potential damage.

Just curious but are you a political blogger? Do you work or volunteer for the Liberal party?
