ON one hand the law is the law and on the other there are people
who don't care about the law cause they only subscribe to Gods
law. Well here on earth we have even Christ saying obey the law.
So many forget we are not living in a religious State we are in a
democracy and the majority determines the issue.
The same can be said for abortion as for gambling, liquor sales
and so on. In a free State you don't have to participate in anything
but you should not be entitled to dictate to others when they are
not breaking the law.

What does abortion and the continued support of the murder of innocents have to do with religion?

Dunno.... I though the thread was about an annoying NDP, not an annoying religion or annoying morals

The thread is, I was quoting and asking a specific person about a specific post he made. I can see how you would be confused about that if you are unable to differentiate between what you post and what others post.

If young women died at the hands of butchers, that would have been their choice. No one forced them to go to said "butcher".

Actually, I disagree. The stigma that was attached to being an unwed mother, by both society and the church played a significant part in woman trying to get an illegal abortion. Thank goodness we're a little more understanding today and unwed mothers are able to raise their kids without societal stigma or pressure...

?

Wait a minute. Scratch that last sentence in the first paragraph.

Sorry, it was ALL their choice. Getting pregnant was their choice, getting the abortion was their choice.

Disagree. If things hadn't been that way, a lot of those young women (girls really) may not have sought out an abortion. In fact I think the lack of stigma and pressures from society today probably lessen the amount of abortions we would see without the ignorance of the church and society. It is a little easier nowadays for a young women to make the decision to keep her child then it was back then.

and yet there are at least 100,000 abortions every year in Canada. That is one abortion for every 3 live births. Looks to me like a sizable number of women are "choosing" to kill their babies rather than being "inconvenienced" for 9 months and putting the baby up for adoption if they don't want to "keep it". But no, society makes it much easier to abdicate their responsibility for the actions that they willingly went through with.

Pretty hard to compile statistic from illegal abortionists.

But are those numbers not dropping ?

No, they are not, in reality. Quebec is not required to report. Private clinics do not need to report. British Columbia reports inaccurate and incomplete numbers. CIHI under reports total abortions in Ontario by over 15k per year. Current estimates are that we are up to 110k abortions per year in this country. Almost double what was reported back in 2004.
