You remember the plate they pass around don;t you? The sun is the only god you should pay any attention to. The rest are rank loathsome pretenders.

Forgot about that. We never had a church were I grew up. Some preacher types of unknown variety came out to the camp on sundays and did a Sunday school for us little heathens and some kind of hallelujah for the adults. My mother went , I don't remember my father ever going. I quit going as soon as I was old enough to put my foot down. Actually I went fishing with my friends and mom gave up on me after a month or so. I thought the money was to pay the preacher.(Union camp, nobody worked for free).

What is the definition of God?

Just gotta ask the hard questions eh? Every definition I've ever seen rapidly ends up in inconsistency and/or incoherence when I try to follow the logical implications of the characteristics and motives ascribed to him/her/it/whatever. The whole idea of a deity, of any sort, fundamentally does not make sense to me, I do not see how there can be such a being. So I don't think there is.

I like your idea about the sun though. I can SEE the sun. That's important.

Good one Beave, I begin to suspect you of hidden depths of wisdom and understanding. If by some remote and vastly improbable chance there IS a deity, the zen of fishing will be one place to find out.

The deity is reason? I spent a lot of time fishing brooks when I was a kid. It was heavenly for me.

Every bend in the stream was oportunity and discovery. The big fish was just up a head and I was bound to find it.
