The mounties didn't just make the American cowboys put away their guns. When Sitting Bull came to Canada the US army wanted to come in and drag him back to be murdered. A few of our mounties turned the US cavalry back through diplomacy.

I guess that answers the Canadian culture bit too.

Uncle

I think you got one out of ten correct.

Not bad at all.

Other than that, the rest of what you've written is utter, complete idiocy. But you know that already, and you knew it when you wrote it.

I like the comment about the American legend, the American cowboy. I've really gotta agree and say other legends like Terry Fox or Wayne Gretzky are in their own right Canadian legends.

Seriously, unclepercy, you're very ignorant.

That's cruel poster bashing, and I thought you were not supposed to do that. BTW - look up my IQ. What lame legends. No one has heard of Terry Fox in America/and I am speaking of allegorical legends. Not people who are considered legends.

An allegorical legend transcends an individual and represents something else. A cowboy is a representation of the Old West in America. Now. With that understood, don't give me people as examples.

I could list a hundred American legends off the top of my head(people)/that wasn't the point at all.

that is no surprise. .........as there is A LOT americans don't KNOW anything about .

and ignorance has nothing to do with IQ's.

Gee Uncle Percy I see two Terry Fox runs in Texas alone. Here

Click here for a list of runs worldwide

Maybe you are one of the few Americans that never heard of him Uncle but many have.

thanks for the link No.1........ I knew the TF run was world wide......but did not have any idea it was that extensive. A young mans dream .legacy. Some might not be old enough to remember his run........but I do. And it was a true moment in Canadian history......that has become a phenomena. Now in respect for Terry ...... we have the "terry " coin.

Nope........a cancer victim who had his leg amputated and decided to run across Canada to raise money for Cancer Research. anyhow .An "athlete" of sorts.......but that was not his notoriety.

His run was aborted due to his cancer spreading and he had to return to BC for more treatment. He did not make it.

RIP.....Terry. Your memory LIVES -as does your dream:love2: :canada:

[OT]Unlike America where the term "hero" is used far too often, We do not use the term hero that often but Terry Fox is one of the few people that is a real Hero in Canada, to many people.

I remember his run, I was only 13 when he died and it was real sad day. I too have 2 Terry Fox loonies, they are sure hard to come by. I actually bought the 2005 collectors set from the mint commemerating his run.

Canada post issued a stamp one year after his death, normally you have to be dead 10 years or the reigning monarch. Plus there is a coast guard ship named after him, numerous high schools etc. He really was a real hero. And on June 30, 1999 – Terry Fox is voted Canada's Greatest Hero in a national survey.[/OT]

And I point out again as have others Uncle Percy ...The Mounties...The Voyageurs That would be furtrappers to you. They were such a concern...Thomas Jefferson commisioned Lewis and Clark (you have heard of them right?) to explore the Northwest. That's cause David Thompson and others. was making his way into (what is now the Northern US).

To be truthful a "cowboy " is really more of an occupation than a legend. There were cowboys one might consider legendary...but as you pointed out that wasn't the point.( they would after all be individuals)

Who is Terry Fox? Click here to find out

Perhaps you have heard of Lance Armstrong? I run into him once in a while at a restaurant - he is our Terry Fox. I am not trying to lord this over you, because cancer is a hideous adversary, but Lance did live and is still working worldwide for cancer charities.
It is indeed admirable what Terry Fox did/I am not trying to minimize it.

Cruel poster bashing eh uncle, and what do you call those lies you posted about moderators editing your posts. Do you just make stuff up? Obviously you don't read around here, or you would have known, any editing leaves a signature for ALL to read that the post was edited.
