This is not spam. I am just trying to share an interest of mine.

Hello everyone,

My name is Alexandre Deblois, born in Quebec City, Canada. I would like to share with you a passion of mine that I hope gets more attention on this forum. Let me tell you about it. I have always liked passenger liners, like Titanic, Queen Mary, SS United States, etc. I have always thought about what a Canadian flagship would be like. Hence the subject of this post. Specifically, I want to design a ship that represents Canadians and Canada on the high seas as a symbol of our beautiful country. Not only that, but she will be our largest and fastest merchant ship that we have ever constructed. As I am only 20 right now, and don't have the funds to construct her (let alone convince businessman to back her financially), I am left to sharing it with the widest audience possible. She will be 'our ship', one that will make every citizen in Canada proud to be Canadian, and bring us closer together as a country. I have worked very hard to come up with the concept of this ship and make her a true ship worthy of the name of the country she bears. Please think twice before passing this opportunity up to join in the "Canadian Dream". I really want her to be well-known across Canada in the years to come. I personally believe it is up to us as a nation to show the world that we can build great passenger vessels of high-quality and unrivaled beauty. This is our time to shine on the world stage.

Welcome to Canadian Content.

One glaring issue I see with your ship plans is a frustrating one in this day and age, and that's the fact that its net presence will suck due to its name.

This link is also my project site: MS*Canada - Canada's Flagship - Home

Have any of you actually looked at my Facebook page?

I know that many Canadians would love to see this ship become reality. I'm sure of it. If any of you have heard of the American liner the SS United States, you would feel the same way for this one. "Why don't we have a big ship?"

My personal video about this ship on Youtube. Please don't pass this up. I know that a lot of my fellow Canadians would want this ship built. I know that together as a nation we can make her become reality. We need symbols of national prestige in this day and age, and this is a perfect opportunity to show what Canadians can create. And on the plus side, we can be extremely proud of our achievement once she is completed. MS CANADA - Clearly Canadian - YouTube

your ship looks cool. I look forward to seeing it when it when it is built. :)

please be advised:

reefs and icebergs are evil. they are known to purposely collide with ships. 8O ;) :p

'Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, or what's a heaven for.' I wish you luck with your dream. Just a thought though, to make it a really Canadian liner - maybe it should have a hockey rink instead of a swimming pool?

Don't worry, that feature probably should be there if I want to make her authentic. ;)

Please like my page on Facebook. You will get periodic updates on her design progress and other news.

Is this a real project?

EagleSmack - It's a project idea, yes. But I can't really make any real progress on it because A) Haven't gone through college yet to study marine engineering / ship design and B) Don't have the funds to build her. So at the moment the project is relegated to sharing online my passion for building this ship. I hope someday she will become reality.

Yes it does. Honestly, to make this clear, I would have thought that this forum would be flocking to my page to see what the ship would be like. Guess she doesn't have a strong following yet. Have we really lost our sense of pride when it comes to building great things? I'm just trying to get some more Canadian likes on my page to really get the page self-sustaining from conversations, shares, and likes alone.

I'm quite saddened that she doesn't appear to "catch on" with fellow Canadians as of yet.

All I ask is to at least drop a like on the page. As Canadians, I feel it is our chance to be able to show the world what we can build. Trust me, it's an opportunity us as Canadians won't ever regret.

I for one have visited your facebook page, and viewed some of your youtube videos. But, if you'll notice, most people on this forum use pseudonyms, and not their real names. That's why I won't click on your facebook page. You don't need to know my real identity, sorry.

As for people getting as passionate as you are about the idea of a flag ship, I think you need to realize it's your dream, and that very few people get excited at the idea of other people's dreams. To you she's a real, tangible thing you can roll around in your brain, to us she's just a drawing on a facebook page.

Now that's not to say you shouldn't keep talking to people about, keep planning, take engineering classes, and try to have your dream realized. But until it's a LOT further along, you're going to need to drive yourself, others won't do it for you. Because we can't quite see it like you can yet. I really hope we can one day though

Thanks for that lengthy reply karrie :) I will continue to work hard to see her become reality one day. Canadians will thank me for doing this, I know it deep down they will.
