‘Embarrassed and Humiliated’: TSA Apologizes After Ordering Nursing Mom to Pump Breast Milk Into Bottles Before Boarding





The Transportation Security Administration has apologized after a mother in Hawaii was left “embarrassed and humiliated” after an agent ordered her to pump breast milk in an airport bathroom to prove her electric pump was real.

Amy Strand was traveling with her 9-month-old daughter on her way home from Kauai Wednesday when she was told she would not be allowed to board until she could show the agent full bottles of breast milk, Hawaii ABC affiliate KITV-TV reported.

Just minutes before going through security Wednesday, she said she had done “what no nursing mother wants to do” and dumped the breast milk from the bottles, thinking they would be a screening hassle. But when she was going through the line, the agent stopped her and asked to look at her equipment, which included the pump, a cooler pack and the empty bottles. Because recently-changed TSA guidelines permit women to fly with breast milk but treat electric pumps as medical equipment, Strand had to prove the pump was medically necessary to be able to fly with it.

agreed. It is also a complete over reaction that demonstrates that the "terrorist" issue is controlling the life and travel times of the population.

Another form of controlling the population on the basis of "terrorists". / Each time the TSA behaves in this nonsensical way.....it is bowing to terrorism and allowing itself to be controlled by them. THAT is not the america we all grew up with.

It is just sickening to watch what the bush regime started when they totally mishandled the terror attack and then took advantage of it for their own agenda.

Another example of fear mongering ......that is both obvious and subtle now. It is just so sad and tragic on many levels. One cannot help but feel sorry for the US population as they have truly been manipulated by a master manipulating gov't. using fear.

the bush regime destroyed the essence and being of what America stood for and was capable of. On so many levels .....we have not seen all the repercussions yet. When folks truly wake up to how he manipulated them for his own agenda......they should be humiliated for being so willingly duped.

9-11 was a gift to the bush regime that just keeps giving.......and will for some time.....as long as they can play the fear card.

the fact he used the deaths of so many fine people in such a criminal act for his agenda ....is an obvious crime to anyone that is honest with himself.

and now the general population have to put up with this crap when they travel. Insanity.
