It was worth waiting for the download on dial-up, Avro - get photo! Don't know which box I like best as they all fit the idea though the smelling salts one is pretty cute.

I am watching the Leafs and the Red Wings right now as I don't get the game between the Habs and the Capitols. Hoping that Washington manages to extend their losing streak to include this game, Avro.

Any predictions about the Hab's game against Carolina tonight, Avro? The way the team has been playing lately, I hate to hazard one. At least I get to see the game as TSN is broadcasting it at 4:30 PST. Will be cheering for the guys - both the babies and the 'seniors'.

As a Christmas present, we got tickets to the game in Boston last Thurs. What a waste of money that was. At least we were on tv, from what some friends told us.

Ah, TenPenny, I would have been thrilled just to be at the game soaking in the excitement but then, I am a Rider supporter and well-versed in how to take losses - you gotta get your fun somehow.

Any predictions about tonight`s game.

So far it looks like another shutout.

What a pile of crap they are....save Price....the rest are garbage.

Habs in New Jersey tonight, Avro. Don't know what to think about their chances. They seem to have lost that spark they had earlier and don't seem to be tight as a team. I also wish that much as I like PK, he would stop taking penalties and stick to playing hockey, IMHO. I also expected a lot more of Cammalari this season and frankly he hasn't really impressed me much. Gomez is still in there but lacks real conviction at times. Still, they have come from behind before and are one of the most exciting teams to watch. When they are 'in the zone' they are amazing - their speed and agility on the ice along with the precision passing they are capable of sure makes for some great hockey. Hoping they got their mojo back for this game. Go, Habs, Go.

They are banged up...they will limp into the playoffs.

Honestly it would be intersting if the Leafs made it in.

Even though I hate them.;-)

Habs are first to strike at 10:10 in the opening period.

Habs 1 - Devils 0

And here the numbnuts broadcasters were going on and on about Brodeur being so tough against the Canadiens. Na, na, na..... na  Sorry I missed the name of the guy who got the goal. Come on Canadiens!

I forgot the game is in New Jersey, Avro as I tuned in just as the our national anthem was being sung - I may be forgiven for thinking they were in Montreal as the voices of fans joining in almost drowned out the singer - well not quite but they were loud and proud. So take heart that as your love wanes, many others are hanging tough for the Habs.

Well the first period was the Canadiens all the way. Their ability to keep New Jersey out during the power play was really cool. At one point, Plekanac (sp?) almost scored a short-handed goal. Keep up the momentum and pressure guys, you are looking great.

Habs eliminated the Devil's tonight by beating them 4 -2 in three solid periods of Canadien's hockey. Even when New Jersey managed to get a puck past Price very late in the third period, the Habs kept up the pressure. They played like I hoped they would. Way to go, Canadiens.

They played like a team tonite.....if they do that for the last 3 games they will make it in.

Not sure if that's a good thing but let's hope.

I heard that the Habs made it into the play-offs, Avro! That has to be good for the franchise ;-)

They are playing the Senators right now ~ 1 - 1 in the second. They just blew a 5-minute power play. I also heard that PK may be in line for a Canadian Rookie Award - do you know anything about that. Seems he just has to make one or two more goals?

They looked like garbage tonight, it will be a quick and easy series for whomever they meet in the first round.

5 minutes, not one shot on goal.....UTTER CRAP!

On the Subban question, I think if he gets one more goal he ties a Habs rookie defenseman record....not sure though.

Watched them play the Leafs last night, Avro - of course the Leafs have been eliminated but the Habs still played a pretty solid game. They actually looked like they were having a bit of fun out there for a change and Carey was 'priceless' in goal. The goal they scored during the Leaf's power play was so sweet and reminiscent of the team earlier in the season.

Will be watching then in the play-offs and hoping they can get through a least the first few teams. I enjoy watching the Habs as they can be so quick on the ice and seem to skate circles around the competition when they are on their game - which I sure hope they are for the play-offs.

GO, CANADIENS, GO!

PK could tie Guy Lapointe for the team rookie record - which Guy got 40 years ago. It is the Calder trophy I was thinking of for rookie of the year. It seems PK could have some stiff competition especially from the Hurricane's 18 year old, Jeff Skinner. One can always hope though and PK really did a lot for the team especially later in the season.

yep, they played well against toronto, and finished their season up on a good note, now they are ready for
playoffs, they have the goalie to carry them at times if they need him to, and the defence to shut down
the opposition, just like last season, so if they can muster up some offense, they can compete and knock
boston out, i'll be cheering for them.

I like the goaltender and he will improve with a little more experience. I have been a
Habs fan since I was five or six and that is over six decades ago. I would be real
ticked if they chose a non Canadian as a Captain of the team, and I don't care if he
is French Canadian or whatever as long as he is Canadian.
The boys will be playing golf sooner than they would like though, not their year it
seems. I only hope the Canuks exit quickly though. I have kids and grand kids who
are Canuk fans the jokes around here are something else. I don't mind if the Habs
lose in a building year, I don't want the Canuks to win any year.
At least this season I will get to see a lot of games as I can't work until the end of
April or into early May, Doctors orders. What a way to get to see the playoffs eh?

Well Avro, here we are at the play-offs and the Habs are set to go. As I have watched them much more than many of the other teams this season - simply because I got their games but didn't have a package to receive the others, I really hope they can get all the way through the series with Boston. From what I am hearing on TSN and all the hockey shows, it could be a really nasty series. I am hoping they are wrong but with the history between the two teams - this is probably false hope. I will be cheering loudly tonight in the privacy of my living room, wishing that I was with the Habs fans in the stands.

GO, CANADIENS, GO. Rock the ice, Habs.

I will be cheering for them too. I find the nasty stuff won't ever be put to rest because the media
won't let it, they bring it up all the time, the media thrive on negativity and misery, anything to
make a story.
Of course two teams who are old time rivals will have 'stuff' happening from time to time, but this
is playoffs, and fighting, major penalties etc are a no no, coaches don't want their teams playing
short handed, or worse yet, getting suspensions at this time of the year.

In vancouver the media talked on and on over the past few days about the history of chicago and
vancouver, and how vancouver was beaten two years in a row, and of course that is true, but come
on you guys, why do your brains have to be that stuck up your a**es all the time. The media do
not really know how to talk 'hockey', I mean 'real hockey', but they sure do know how to go on and
on about personal issues between players and teams, sure gets tiring.

They came through for us, tallola. Other than a few minor dust-ups, the Habs played a pretty cool, calm - maybe too calm at times - game while managing some great hits. Proud of PK for not responding to Marchand's continuous checks on him at the goal mouth. Marchand paid for his impatience later with that penalty for the interference call on Plekanec - looked good on him. He wasn't thinking of the effect on the team or the timing when he chose to act - lucky for him that the Habs didn't score.

I didn't really think they were playing up to their capability in spite of their win tonight. PK didn't really stand out. Plekanec and Price shouldered a lot of the weight though Gomez, Gionta, and Cammalari put in appearances.

Some of the comments I heard from game announcers tonight on the subject of Carey Price:

"Once again it's Carey Price holding the fort for Montreal."
"nothing but spectacular"

And he was all of that. He proved to himself tonight that he really can play and win in the play-offs and that was an important lesson for him.

I am glad for the team that this win came in Boston's backyard and that they shut Boston out.

I didn't really think that Tim Thomas was totally on his game either - how easy was that first goal by Gionta? It was almost a given.

Montreal was as good on their penalty killing as they were during the regular season but it would have been nice to see a PP goal.

I understand that their coach told them before the game, that when the whistle blew - that was the end of play - period. You walk away. From what I saw they paid attention to their coach. Next game he can tell them to up their energy level and still maintain their cool.

Great game, Habs.

As I write this, Buffalo just won their game against the Flyers on a third period goal from Kaleta to win 1 - 0. Ryan Miller had 43 saves on the night.

Danny Healy scored for the Sharks on the opening play of their game against L.A.
