It seems to me that if you look through the various postings on the forum all religions take a hit. Since I have been a member of CC I've seen Islam, Christianity, Scientology, and several other religions taken to task over one thing or another, and that is not including the Spirituality and Philosophy Forum which I rarely visit. I haven't really noticed Christianity taking any more hits than any other religion, but that may be due to the fact that I tend to avoid the pointless religious arguments that always seem to develop in a religious thread.

On topic but a question for Atheists

Would you go up to a close friend - family member and ridicule mercilessly, be rude and completely ignorant and deride their personal Religious beliefs.

Or would you politely disagree?

I would hope all Atheists would reply.

If it meant not lying sure, then I'd put my own life under an exam to see how many more tards I have in it. (That means they also are to in my literal face, somebody on the net shouldn't even be able to raise blood pressure. The church used to have the power in the flock, they had that taken away but now they can take it back because the methods used to take it would not be supported by the world at large and no nation can everybody forever.

I would hope all Atheists would reply.

Most of my family is religious, and I respect their beliefs and their decisions to practice whatever religion they want.... but the moment they or anybody else starts shoving it in my face, I shove back.

It doesn't matter if it's my brother, father, cousin, or some random stranger on the street. I don't shove my beliefs into everybody else's face nor do I try and force them to convert to my beliefs, thus if others can't give me the same level of respect by not shoving their crap in my face or trying to force me to convert, then respect goes out the window.

As I've said in my previous post, I'm not saying one religion is better than another, as they all have their issues and major screw ups in history.... but for this guy to act like Christianity is the most abused faith on Earth & uses some pretty piss poor excuses to back up his position, he's going to get told.

In my eyes, if there truly is a God, I don't need to follow a man-made religion to please him/her/it.... I will live my life as I see fit and do the things I feel are right by myself & my fellow human. I will work day in and day out to better myself and those around me and if there is a God, they can judge my actions when I die. If this God has an issue with how I conducted myself, then maybe he/she/it should have gotten off its ass earlier to tell me, rather than leave me to guess which other human being & which random religion had it right.

I allow others to explore their lives as they see fit and to do the things they think are right.... for themselves. The moment they start to tell me how to live my life based on their dogma interpretation, they're going to get an ear full.

no where in the New Testament does Jesus justify violence. Jesus never led armies and was not a warlord.

That's true. Yet, hundreds of Christians were persecuted by the USA government during the Civil War for opposing war, by slave holders in the South for condemning slavery, for opposing WW I, WW II, and Vietnam. When liberals oppose war for reasons of conscience they are called ''communist'', ''radical'', and "traitor" by those on the far right all of whom call themselves "Christian". If anything, it is self proclaimed "Christians" who marginalize real Christians such as Christadelphians, Catholic Workers, Quakers, and Jehovah's Witnesses.

As for the claim that Christians are attacked by Muslims, I have posted in the past links which showed that Hindu radicals have killed more Christians than have Muslims. As always, this is ignored. But I repeat myself.

I am an atheist. I stay out of the religious forums. I do not go door to door handing out atheistic pamphlets or attempting to enlighten those who do not share my point of view. Quite frankly I don't care what unscientific beliefs others choose to hold as long as they do not bother me. However, I have no problem going after anyone who decides to push his religious agenda in my home or outside the CC religious forum.

A hardline right-wing former self proclaimed follower of the Jewish Faith, then a born again Evangelical, now a staunch Catholic, who seemed to take pleasure in playing down the suffering of LGBT people, and mocking their struggle for equality.

So you can imagine how shocked I was, to see that he is now admitting he was wrong.

Of course he has the ability to flip-flop his views as seen in his choices of faith so this conversion may not last too long either.....
