3/4 of American cops never had what it took.
And vets generally know that being ruff n' tuff don't help much when your "125-pound" opponent is carrying a 7-pound rifle.
I think it's more about optics right now..
Police are under attack and well, personally I feel that in order to become a police officer it should be more about obtaining a Psychology degree as a prerequisite rather than looking tough with a gun strapped to your leg.
Also think cops should be paid more, maybe a higher quality of police offices and less shootings if they raise educational requirements and wages.

The question from the above is, "Why are the Police feeling like they're under attack?" The optics are in every smart phone.
