That's why folks will often choose the devil they know over the devil they don't. Both are scary, but familiarity can be the deciding factor.

That's true. All politicians end up having hidden agendas and end up doing things not popular(or wanted/needed), but usually you know what you are getting with the one that is already in. Still, I didn't want McLiar getting back in, due to the fact that he was the devil I knew.

BUT, SLM, there is also the old saying "familiarity breeds contempt" so maybe what you say is true in ways you didn't think of.

We hate them, we vote them, we hate ourselves for it.

Masochism at it's finest.

Yep, I don't know what the answer is to get intelligent voting. (Not that I necessarily vote intelligently:lol:) A lot of people align themselves with parties, which is good if a party can be relied upon to stick with a platform, but none of them do. For years I voted for the N.D.P. under the impression they were the working man's party, which I finally found out the hard way to be total B.S. Now I take a good look at the man/woman in my riding and the one I find most trust worthy/ competent gets my vote. But it's definitely a crap shoot.

I think that's really all that you can rationally do, party affiliation be damned. The best we can hope for is someone we feel will care about, fight for, and serve our riding. There ain't anything wrong with that!

Well, there are also a lot of voters that may be disillusioned. Voter turnout has been pretty poor the past few elections, which can potentially put a crimp in things.

I'm just so cynical about the whole thing. I cannot remember a time, if there ever was one, when I believed in a politician. Shouldn't we be able to believe in who choose to lead us?

It seems that no matter if they go into it with all the best intentions, that they end up being like every other politician before them.

Right swinging left in Waterloo?

HMMMmmmmmm.....

And it's nice to see Genco eat it in Vaughan. There were more wasteful signs littering that plot last weekend than when Ford ran his propa-campgaign.
