May I recommend a war against the recession.

We can eliminate the extremes of wealth and poverty, but never achieve complete equality. We will always need generals, officers, and footsoldiers, each playing their role in society.

JLM; I know you were quoting me, anyway, there are far more ways of creating wealth. All it is is adding value to something. You farm it, sell it, market it, re-sell it, that creates wealth. Providing services, entertainment, or goods creates wealth. You can't expect people to work for free, not for long anyway. BTW, you always have to kill something in order to eat, we generally call it the food chain.

I hear you, I think I worded what I said rather poorly, I should have said "generating money", rather than creating wealth. Like a person who for instance owns a ski resort is probably "creating wealth for himself and his employees but he's not generating any money just spreading money around. If you get my drift, like he's not anything that would enable the mint in Ottawa to run any longer whereas if he finds a big gold deposit, then the country can print more money.

A cheery X-mas saw to enjoy with your green and red jello!

The trouble with wars to end recessions is that they often turn out to be wars!

We can ameliorate the lot of the impoverished, we'll never eliminate poverty, but trying to eliminate the extremes of wealth just moves the wealthy elsewhere. Love 'em or hate 'em, they still create the jobs needed to creat wealth, that's how they got wealthy. What is needed is to eliminate the ones who screw everyone else to get wealthy, problem is that we never find out who they really are until it's too late, like a certain Madoff fella who got outed.

Well, they're not making property anymore, wars are just about trading it, or taking it.

Yep, wars are crazy, but working oneself into a frenzy to accumulate weath is just as crazy as far as I'm concerned, but the fifty or so people who run the world don't see it that way.

I'm sure a war against the recession will work as well as the war on poverty and the war on drugs and the war on terrorism, i.e. not at all. War is entirely the wrong concept to apply here. I dunno what the right one is, and I doubt that there *is* a single one, but I'm sure war is the wrong one.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I think until we can get everyone "thinking" with their head instead of their emotions things are going to carry on much the same- A BIG MESS.
