Marijuana, when used in strong concentrations such as skunk weed, more than once a week, has been shown to increase a teenager's chances of developing psychosis and schizophrenia like symptoms (I say schizophrenia like, because they usually fade away months after the weed is gone, unlike true schizophrenia). But, any chemical added to a developing brain bears the same risks. Alcohol can cause psychosis in certain people, atni-d's can make kids kill themselves. There have even been cases (I'm one of them) of birth control causing psychological problems in teens.

Were they testing the natural cannibus or the genetically altered one where one puff might knock you down?

true that weed is definately not as dangerous as alcohol in a driving situation. I think it's still dangerous though. reaction times are affected

Weed is not as bad for driving because it does not take away your inhibitions like alcohol does. If anything, I feel more inhibited (and therefore would drive more carefully, if I actually smoked and drove, which I don't. I don't even drive period) after smoking pot. It does affect reaction time, as you said, and people might tend to get more distracted after smoking pot. But, driving while talking on a cell phone is probably worse (you don't know how many times, as a pedestrian, I have almost been hit by people talking on their cell phones), so maybe we should ban cell phones instead?

driving while speaking ona cell-phone without a hands-free is illegal in the UK. I remember being in a cab once going down the M4 at high speeds while the pakistani driver talked endlessly on his cellphone and nearly killed us all several times

From what I gather, most tests now are conducted with 'skunk', the hybrid variety, because it's what most highschool kids are getting their hands on.

funny nickname for it. When I was a kid there was a vine that climbed evergreens and when it got about finger thick it died. we'd smoke it. Called it either skunkweed or monkeyweed cuz it climbed trees and smelled a bit like skunks.

They actually call it "skunk"?

The media refer to it as skunk a lot. People in the pot culture referred to it as skunk a lot when I was in highschool (going on ten years ago now), but few of the pot smokers I know now ever use the term. Mind you, most of the pot smokers I know have gone back to the lighter strains, preferring a mellower high.

Frick, marijuana is a pretty light treatment compared to some of the heavy ones doctors dole out.

No kidding, it's easier to get medicinal speed, valium or opiates than it is to get medicinal marijuana. Really makes you wonder....
