I think these symbols of the failed USA security apparatus of the last 50 years.. based on regime change, limited warfare and installation of 'American style democracy' in military adventures around the globe has been such a fiasco that those who exposed its hypocrisy including Manning and Snowden should be pardoned.

The U.S. has nothing to show for it, except a reputation in the developing world as an warmongering empire, trillions in debt and lost economic potential, retaliatory terrorism storming its borders, and thousands of dead soldiers. They quickly lose interest in these missions, declare victory and get out, leaving a void in their wake which produces the most grotesque of gangster organizations to take their place, like ISIS.

It is time to refocus American priorities on the U.S. and its economy.. and forget the failed agenda of NeoConservative ('Free Market') Economic Imperialism to which these military expeditions are inextricably linked.

Former New York Times reporter Judith Miller, whose wretched journalism disgraced her newspaper and helped deceive the country into launching the disastrous Iraq War, offered some thoughts Tuesday via Twitter about President Barack Obama’s commutation of Chelsea Manning’s prison sentence

Bradley Manning, the U.S. soldier convicted of the biggest breach of classified data in the nation's history, was sentenced to 35 years in a military prison Wednesday.

The 25-year-old private first class faced up to 90 years for turning over more than 700,000 classified files, battlefield videos and diplomatic cables to the pro-transparency website WikiLeaks, in a case that has commanded international attention since 2010.

The judge hearing Manning's court-martial, Col. Denise Lind, ignored prosecutors' call for a 60-year sentence but didn't give in to defense laywers who asked her not to "rob him of his youth."

Manning was working as a low-level intelligence analyst in Baghdad when he handed over the documents, catapulting WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange, into the international spotlight.

What a waste of taxpayer dollars! No wonder the US is going bankrupt. Anyone with any sense of economics in his brain would fine him, ban him from accessing any employment that allows access to sensitive information for X years (whether that is 1 year or 70 years or anything in between), discharge him, and that's it.

But oh no, you guys have got lots of cash to spend it would seem.

Some times it's refreshing to just say "Screw MONEY!"
I like to wrap one and then work for fun

a lot of very good tradesmen I know smoke weed because their trade has caused a lot of gradual physical breakdown over the years, and a timmie and a dube gets them to lunch, and a timmie and a dube gets then to 5
...And no one complains cause the works is done just fine or better...
focus ya dig?

I've written up jailbird arseholes like you, over the years. Smoke dope on a job site? If you do things like that in a plant or an any jobsite, anywhere, you're a danger to everyone around you. You might think that you're "just fine" but you're likely to kill someone if your wits aren't about you. The same goes for boozers. Are you one of those as well?

Maybe, that's how did that time in Joyceville. Did you run over someone with a forklift after smoking a joint?

A US Army spokesperson confirmed to the BBC that she had left Fort Leavenworth military prison in Kansas.

Most of what remained of her 35-year sentence was commuted by then-US President Barack Obama in January.

Her lawyer earlier said she was excited but likely "anxious".

"She's ready to finally be able to live as the woman that she is," Nancy Hollander told the BBC. The 29-year-old soldier was born Bradley Manning.

A day after she was sentenced to 35 years in prison in 2013, Manning said she had felt female since childhood and wanted to live as a woman called Chelsea.
