That guy has said before that he would not work at a job that is beneath him....I would guess that he would rather collect welfare or live with his parents instead of working....JLM, sometimes you can't fix "LAZY"
It sounds like there has been a change in the last 10 years or so. It was about then that I heard that Canadian labourers were highly valued in California and there were jobs for the asking there for Canadians at that time.
Just meeting with lots of Americans, they consider it fairly routine to up their stakes and move to where the jobs are--multiple times if necessary. I'm not sure we do that as much here (mind you we have a much bigger country and a lot of it has pretty crappy winters).
I thought they were much more results oriented as well. For NATO we had the motto from the Ents in Lord of the Rings: "Musn't be hasty." They never made a decision. For Operation Enduring Freedom (the American mission) the motto was "Ready - Fire - Aim!"

It was nearly 40 years ago that I was in charge of a fairly large project on the north end of Vancouver Island doing the survey (in horrible weather, vegetation and terrain condition) for access and location of a new ferry terminal. We hired quite a few guys to slash lines and other related survey work when one young fellow came up to me and let me know in no uncertain terms that this was just temporary as he had already been accepted to train for an officer's position the military. He then went on to tell me that my job wasn't prestigious enough for him. (Go figure) I just told him that prestige can be hard to spend on a Saturday morning in town. I don't think he was impressed.
I have zero complaint about the 20,000 that moved to SK over the past 5 years. They work hard and came here with solid credit ratings and are buying homes ASAP. They fit right into the community and the RC Church.
