Interesting, and I didn't know he got mail from Marx praising his election. So looked into it and:


Overall I found it interesting.

It also shows just how drastically the Republicans have changed since the 'switch'.

North is now South too? Maybe there wasn't a switch but rather Madison Avenue advertising/ propaganda made people think there was a switch?

I think it was in the 20th century. Looking at Texas what we think of now as a Republican stronghold, it didn't become so until 1980. Before 1956, it was Democrat all but twice. Between 1956 and 1976 it voted Democrat 4 times and Republican 3 times. There was definitely a swing in party positions.


Unfortunately there are those who deny the parties switched at all, and somehow Republicans today equaled Republicans of Lincoln's time, and Dems today equaled Dems of back then. Which is absolutely stupid when you look at policies between now and then.
