Trump is the American President, not the Canadian President. Doesn’t that irk you somewhat?
Not at all . I don’t get to vote in American elections . What irks me is some guy who hasn’t lived in Canada for years , has three passports three or more houses none in Canada and he is going to be crowned PM , did I mention his French is worse than mine , and they extent of that works out to parley parley hummable hummable

So, you don’t want Carney as your PM? Neither do I. I also don’t want Trump dictating Canadian policy either.

So, English Lib leadership “debate…” The Tuesday debate was largely polite and respectful, but Mr. Carney was challenged (?) when he said he would not immediately boost defence spending to 2 per cent of GDP, and for his sharp criticism of the Trudeau government’s economic management.😳

Ms. Gould and Mr. Baylis described Mr. Trump as a bully and the former House leader took a shot at Mr. Poilievre, saying that he is “our little Trump.” All unanimously agreed because “debate.”
1740554700206.jpeg
Tuesday’s “debate” moved at a faster pace, though all four candidates used in some cases the exact same phrases as Monday.

With the “debates” behind them, the four candidates will now move ahead to get-out-the-vote efforts in the remaining days of the campaign as the nation still waits while Parliament is still prorogued over this farce.
The Liberal Party said 400,000 people registered to be eligible to vote in the contest, some of them Canadians, and some of those legally adults.

The takeaway was that the liberal candidates agree with each other on most things. Two of Quebec’s main three newspapers noted this in their headlines, agreeing that, well, the Liberals agree.
So…Meh…no way on Earth Carney would be able to stand up to debate in the house of commons (so that’s not going to happen), let alone stand up to a bully like Trump…so that should really be seen as a factor.

Basically , if you surrender your freedom for protection you will soon lose both .
Bring something to trade. For Canada, that's "location, location, location."

Let's be honest. The U.S. is no square-dealing good guy. We flat-out stole half of Mexico, started a war to swipe all the Spanish possessions, annexed Hawaii without so much as a by-your-leave, and bought Alaska cuz it was cheaper'n taking it.

Similarly, everything Canada has that we might want we can get cheaper by buying than by rolling the army across the border. If you look at the history of the U.S., that and not high-flown notions of sovereignty and peace is why Canada is not a state or territory.

So we'll allow you your freedom. Don't piss us off.

Y'all got lucky on the timing. It was before Britain retreated.

My point is it will ultimately benefit both of our countries to practice enlightened self-interest. Cooperate, be buddies, have each other's backs. But that means LEND your buddy your car, not GIVE it to him.

Back to the Liberal leadership race:

Mayor Lopez Aliaga says based on Carney’s actions when he was chairman of Brookfield Asset Management, there should be serious questions asked about Carney’s character. In an interview from Lima, Aliaga said Brookfield, chaired by Carney, was “making massive profits off a toxic contract” plagued by bribes.
“Canadians need to know the way Brookfield, under Mr. Mark Carney, operates here. They need to know how they obtain money from the suffering of poor people,” Aliaga said.

The Municipality of Lima is currently suing Brookfield in a New York City court. It’s part of an ongoing legal battle that has been going on for years. LINK, etc…

One of the last major moves Mark Carney made in the private sector was to ensure his company moved its head office from Toronto to New York City. When asked about it on Tuesday night after the Liberal leadership debate, Carney straight-up lied or he had a horrendous memory lapse when he said he wasn’t involved.

It’s an odd choice for Carney given that he was Chair of the Board for Brookfield Asset Management, a publicly traded company, and there is plenty of evidence of the truth.

Brookfield’s board voted unanimously to move their head office from Toronto to New York on Oct. 31, 2024, a fact that was widely reported in the media on November 1, 2024. On Dec. 1, 2024, Carney signed a letter urging shareholders to endorse the decision to move the headquarters to the United States.

“Accordingly, the Board unanimously recommends that shareholders vote FOR the Arrangement Resolution at the meeting,” Carney wrote.

It's worked for a couple hundred years so far. Neither has given the other one their car, yet.

Pfft. It's called moving their lips. I think the LPC should be carbon taxed for all the gaslighting they do.
