LOL now that's not very environmental!

MONTREAL -- The City of Montreal says it will begin dumping eight billion litres of untreated sewage into the St. Lawrence River on Wednesday after it agreed to conform its discharge plan to several federal government conditions.
Mayor Denis Coderre told reporters on Tuesday as of midnight Wednesday morning sewers in certain parts of the city -- during a one-week period -- will begin diverting untreated waste water away from an interceptor and directly into the river.

On Monday, Environment Minister Catherine McKenna said she would permit the city's plan as long as it implemented a series of risk-mitigating measures to limit the effect of the sewage on the river. Read more

It should be noted that the previous Federal Government was blocking this dumping of raw sewage and that the new "Hot" Climate Change Environment Minister Catherine McKenna has given the go ahead with the condition that she is able to spin it with wonderful words like risk mitigating measures which, when looked up in the dictionary of political speak really means "Oh well, we are in power now. It's not like we meant it. And besides I'm hot and blond?"

It's already been scientifically validated as the alternative would have been worse.

It needed to be done. The Conservatives would have also OKed if the election weren't going on. The only reason they delayed the decision is because the left would have jumped up and down calling Harper anti-environment and anti-science for granting approval, and thus giving the Liberals an even bigger majority. Everyone knows this, which is why no opposition party is saying anything right now.

As I said the spin is hilarious.
Montreal sewage dump plan ordered on hold by federal government

Mayor Denis Coderre blasts feds for halting Sunday’s plan to dump 8 billion litres of sewage into St. Lawrence

Oct 14, 2015

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre blasted the federal government Wednesday evening for being "irresponsible" by halting the city of Montreal's plans to to dump eight billion litres of raw sewage into the St. Lawrence River.
"This decision by the government is irresponsible and unfair," Coderre said. "It is against Montreal and it is against the St. Lawrence River...They have some political game — some puppet master to score political points."

Coderre's comments came about three hours after Canada's environment ministry released a statement. In it, Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq said she has "instructed Environment Canada to immediately have an independent expert scientific review of all information related to this project conducted."

More sour grapes propaganda.... It was either dump it or it dumps itself. Gotta upgrade that freeway - and the horse 'n' buggy sewer

Yeah, sour grapes that's it. I didn't report this story, the CBC and CTV did.

It isn't going to affect me, but the folks who live downstream are tres concerned.

Coderre was a former Liberal Cabinet Minister. Big surprise there.

I wonder where Cliffy stands on this?

I'll bet he will call it like he sees it, instead of shilling for the Liberals.
