"Republicans just can’t stand to see a woman in the position of power, as a Speaker of the House."- Come on S.J. give me one scintilla of proof that Reps are any different from Dems this regard.

JLM, there really haven’t been any Republican women in power nationally, who are national figures, so we really don’t know how Democrats would react to a female Republican House Speaker, or somebody like Hillary Clinton, a strong presidential candidate who came to prominence by defeating a strong opponent in New York to become a Senator.

There have been a few female Republican senators such as Elizabeth Dole, but she was a minor senator, was not prominent nationally, she was pretty much ignored by Democratic Party (or at least was treated no different from any other Republican Senators).

So we really don’t know how Democrats will react to female Senate leader or female Speaker of the House (Republican).

But now we do know how Republicans behave towards a Democratic national figure, a female Speaker. They call her a bitch, a hag and a prostitute.

"But now we do know how Republicans behave towards a Democratic national figure, a female Speaker. They call her a bitch, a hag and a prostitute." I think that is a common reaction among men in general toward certain women who achieve powerful positions. From what I've seen some women are not as humble as men at handling power and tend to flaunt it. There are a lot of areas where some women still think they have something to prove. But that is understandable as the concept is only about 40 years old.

Libs and Democrats have always been the worse enemy to women and minorities

Yeah right, EagleSmack. I suppose that is why women, blacks, Hispanics, gays etc. vote Democratic in such large numbers. If you think they do that in spite of Democrats being their enemies, you must have a really low opinion of intelligence of minorities (another reason why they don’t vote Republican).

They vote Democrat in large numbers because of the propaganda given to them. Democrats WANT minorities and women to feel oppressed. By the fear mongering and feeding the paranoia that the GOP wants to take away their rights and handouts causes them to vote for them. As long as the minorities are kept poor by the Democrats and the Democrats keep giving them crumbs they will vote for them.

His claim that Michelle Obama is a role model to Third World Women because she is "as dark as they come" speaks VOLUMES of the liberal mind set.

It speaks of the reality, EagleSmack, it speaks of how she is regarded by the poor, black women in the third world. They identify with her because she looks like them. Perhaps that is a concept Republicans would never understand (although they apparently have no problem voting for a candidate just because he is white, I don’t think there is a single black Republican Senator, Congressman, or governor).

Whose reality? Those of the do-good liberals such as yourself. Your statement was a racist statement... not that she is a role model by the content of her character but by the color of her skin. Did you not make the bigotted comment that Michelle Obama is as dark as they come?

Democrats are the biggest racists of all. But they do it very cleverly. The old "Not in my yard" way. They pit poor and middle class white people against poor and middle class minorities. They have their wealth and no one will touch it so it is no skin off their back supporting reverse discrimination and out right racism. Affirmative action doesn't touch them or their kids... it will affect the poor and middle class white people though.

Dr. Condoleeza Rice was demeaned and besmirched by DemocRATS and liberals in her powerful positions of Security Advisor AND Secretary of State.

Far worse than the imaginary insults Fancy Piglosi ever had to endure.

So because the Democrats have after 200+ years FINALLY voted in a woman speaker they have become the Champions of Women's Rights!?

We saw how the Democrats jumped all over Palin so don't pretend they are so sensitive to women. The Democrats saw Palin as a threat and destroyed her. They have no shame and no qualms about doing such things.

At the recent Miss America Pageant Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was asked by a raging gay punk judge what she thought of SS marriage. When she gave her opinion that she opposed it, she was immadiately labelled by the same raging gay punk judge as a "stupid bitch". It was picked up by the liberal media and echoed with great glee.

If it comes to determine who is a bitch - a young lady whose opinion bears no consequence or a life-time free-loader who is second in line for the Presidency (and based on the way she grabbed the gavel the day she became the Speaker, no doubt her greatest and most fervent wish is the demise of both the President and the Vice President) - I would say that the Speaker of the House a far more deserving recipient of that title.

So let me get this straight. You are saying that minorities are too stupid to see through democratic propaganda, they are too stupid to see that it is the Republicans who care for them, not Democrats? That they are too stupid to understand that Republicans do not want to take rights away from them?

That really illustrates what I said in my previous post, that you have a very low opinion of the intelligence of the minorities. No wonder they shun the Republican Party.

EagleSmack, they have been champions of women’s rights for decades, electing a female Speaker is the consequence of that. When are Republicans going to elect a woman as their Senate leader or House leader? Why, many Republicans would think the very thought is a blasphemy, or sacrilege. I cannot think of any good looking female Republican Senator or House member, can you? That would automatically exclude them from consideration.

Democratic Party has advanced women’s right for decades (starting with equal pay for equal work, equal access to credit etc, right up to abortion, contraception, affirmative action etc.). Republicans have tried to hinder progress to equal rights by women, blacks, as much as possible.

And that is why women and blacks vote against Republican Party, not because they are too stupid (as you seem to imply).

EagleSmack, and what is wrong with that? She was a political opponent, she needed to be destroyed, that is what is done in politics. However, to my knowledge, nobody called her a bitch, a hag or a prostitute. The attacks were aimed at Palin the politician, not Palin the woman (like the Republicans are trying to destroy Pelosi the woman).

No what I am saying is the Democrats are successfull in their propoganda. When you have a class (not race) of people that are downtrodden and give them full health, shelter, food, money and THEN say...

"See what we Democrats are doing for you? The Republicans want to take that away...vote for us not them."

That really illustrates what I said in my previous post, that you have a very low opinion of the intelligence of the minorities. No wonder they shun the Republican Party.

I have a HIGH opinion of minorities... you want to keep them poor and to keep them voting Democrat.

Consequence?

They have been champions of SOME womens rights but not all. If Conservative women dare rise above Democrats make quick work on trashing them.

When are Republicans going to elect a woman as their Senate leader or House leader? Why, many Republicans would think the very thought is a blasphemy, or sacrilege.

When are Democrat Administrations going to appoint an African American to the Sec State seat? Or to be Chairman of the JCS?

Counting beans?

I cannot think of any good looking female Republican Senator or House member, can you? That would automatically exclude them from consideration.

Yet another sexist comment. Oh brother.

Democratic Party has advanced women’s right for decades (starting with equal pay for equal work, equal access to credit etc, right up to abortion, contraception, affirmative action etc.). Republicans have tried to hinder progress to equal rights by women, blacks, as much as possible.

Democrats promote feminism... not women's rights. The Feminist Movement is what the Democrats answer to and they do not represent all women.

And that is why women and blacks vote against Republican Party, not because they are too stupid (as you seem to imply).

If women ALWAYS voted against the GOP there would not be one GOP member elected to anything. FAILED

I love how when you are floundering you try to put words in people's mouths. You do understand that it is not working right?

Not true. Republicans have a big problem with women voters. When they get men to vote for them in sufficient numbers, they win, in spite of women voting against them. At most they may break even among women, if Democratic candidate is really bad, Republican may have a slight edge among women.

But by and large, when Republicans can get white men to vote for them in sufficient numbers, they win. And herein lies the problem for Republicans, percentage of white men is decreasing in USA. As time goes on it will be more and more difficult for Republicans to get enough votes among white men to overcome their disadvantage among women.

I love how when you are floundering you try to put words in people's mouths. You do understand that it is not working right?

Now, that is a matter of opinion, isn’t it?

Why, certainly. Attacks on Joan of Arc were on the political positions, on her extremist views (like abstinence only education for all of USA, ban on all abortions etc.). The attacks were about the nutty answers she gave to Katie Couric.

Attacks on Pelosi are personal. It is not about issues, Republicans have called Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute. That is not politics, that is mud slinging, that is personal destruction. Republicans seem to be good only at personal destruction, nothing else.

As I said, it remains to be seen if the attacks by the Republican smear machine, the personal destruction juggernaut (calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag, a prostitute etc.) will resonate with American people. I have my doubts, but I could be wrong.

Not true. Republicans have a big problem with women voters.

Really? After four years of Dubya (the worst US president in my lifetime) the 2004 election saw a difference of three percentage points in the female vote according to exit polls. I use CNN as a source because I know how much SJP worships CNN.

CNN.com Election 2004 - U.S. President

Three percent is probably within the margin of error so it may even be considered a statistical tie. Obviously if a waste of skin like Bush can split the female vote down the middle, the Republicans obviously don't have a problem with female voters. I would suggest that you take the time to get facts straight before you spew your intellectual pablum (note I didn't say diarrhea as SJP copyrighted it) but, since you don't read my posts, I shant bother.

Eagle, Sarah Palin's worst enemy in that election campaign was herself. Tina Fey was able to lampoon her non-stop on Saturday Night Live just by repeating the woman's own words. Sarah Palin deserved to be VP less than Joe Biden: at least he had the sense to keep himself out of the firing line most of the time (which isn't saying much but at least he wasn't not firing shots that hurt his prospective boss).

Joan of Arc... and the personal attacks continue.

Forgive him folks... he has no idea what he is doing.

Attacks on Pelosi are personal. It is not about issues, Republicans have called Pelosi a bitch, a hag and a prostitute. That is not politics, that is mud slinging, that is personal destruction. Republicans seem to be good only at personal destruction, nothing else.

Oh sure... like her ongoing lie about what she knew about water boarding... all personal.

The Liberals attacked Palin personally...

Some cut and pastes to prove my point...

"Democratic Congressman Russ Carnahan on Tuesday — introducing Joe Biden at a campaign event — ripped into Palin’s record and punctuated it with this snarky jab. “There’s no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick,” he said. Later in the day, Obama used a variation of the lipstick line, though he was clearly talking about the McCain-Palin reform rhetoric. "You can put lipstick on a pig," he said. "It's still a pig.""

"Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, as part of his endorsement of Obama, said Palin “scares the hell out of me.” And Obama hit Palin in nearly a dozen different press releases — one day after drawing laughs at a campaign stop by calling her a “moose shooter.” "

"Carol Fowler, the chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, said that Palin's "primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion."

As I said, it remains to be seen if the attacks by the Republican smear machine, the personal destruction juggernaut (calling Pelosi a bitch, a hag, a prostitute etc.) will resonate with American people. I have my doubts, but I could be wrong.

Well if it any indication on how America feels about congress...you are wrong.

Not all women are feminist.

You do make me smile. You really are not quite informed. The GOP does not have a problem with women voters as has been clearly shown to you.

Another flasehood. If all white men DID vote for the GOP they would be elected every time. But there are MANY liberal white male democrats.

I love how when you are floundering you try to put words in people's mouths. You do understand that it is not working right?
Now, that is a matter of opinion, isn’t it?

No. You do try to put words in people's mouths while you flounder. It is a fact.

One thing I love about these political threads is all the b.s.; you get more of it in one day here than in 10 years of National Enquirers and it doesn't cost any money.
