Perhaps he's not the man for the job!

No way. He's the only man for the job.

As much as the NDP is the best party in the House right now, any other leader would be killing their chances for their eventual minority win in the next election.

I wouldn't doubt that, like picking the best man among Hitler, Mussolini and Stalin!

Well, we all have our biases. I am confident that as voters become more educated, we can have a more accountable government. Which is why, in all honesty, our current government is in many ways much better than the previous one and the one before them, etc.

I've amended my evaluation from much better to slightly better.

.. And we all know what kind of character that politicians have.

I suppose that just leaves their passport, eh?

So we simply accept the slimy character and focus on irrelevancies instead, rather than put pressure on them to improve their character?

Can't change a tiger's stripes.

Putting 'pressure' on someone to change that is already damaged goods is pretty a risky strategy.

So why not vote for a decent candidate or cast a blank ballot if necessary.

And how does worrying about his passport and culinary tastes solve anything?

Ravioli? Would you trust such a politician to deal fairly in Italo-Canadian relations? What if he shows a preference for Italian tomatoes? We need to protect Canadian tomato farmers, and only a politician who prefers tomato slices in his burger could be trusted. And even then he might be more favourable to US tomato farmers.

This is a serious matter. As far as I'm concerned, we have a right to know our leaders' culinary tastes.

Ohhh, how about a voucher system for tomatoes?
