I've gotten things from my past brought up a few times in here.... try not to take it too seriously.
By the way, I'm giving you some extra homework assignments to help you work on those "y's" and "ie's" ;-)
Ok ok.... honestly, I'm ignorant on your situation that occured that you and K are talking about..... I've only been here for just about a year (I think) So I mean no major offense.... just a bit of humor. If you have a complication with dyslexia, that's cool with me. I spent three years in another forum with someone who had dyslexia really bad, and I had no issues with the guy.... he was pretty bright actually.
Prax - I'm almost certain that DB is funnin' with me. Either that or the appropriate authorities have yet to receive the report of my abusive sense of humour. I'll keep ya posted. ;-)
Thanks Praxius, it's feels real good to get some understanding and a little compassion, I should have known a guy like you would be there for friends when thier under unreasonable hurtfull clare of rough people. My aixelyd has been under control for the most part, I'm glad they can't see the hump on my back.:smile:
lol.... Prax, that was entirely her point. if you go to phonetic spelling like this proff wants, which accent do we 'spell' our words to? She's saying, phonics alone isn't a good basis for spelling because it changes with accents.
Exactly, if we change our languages based on accent, who is right and who is wrong..... and who would be able to understand all the thousands of variations of one word, based on accent?
General Side Note:
But one very important poing I would like to make, is that if children are having such a hard time trying to learn how to spell properly and read, etc. due to the internet and texting on cell phones..... perhaps those kids shouldn't be allowed on the internet or to have a cell phone in the first place until they pass their english in school.
all my spelling classes were from grade 1 up to grade 6..... what friggin kid should be playing around on a cell phone all day and chatting to people on the internet at that age anyways?
Call me crazy, but maybe that's where the problem lies.
I know it maybe a radical idea to some people out there, but when I was a kid, way back when, we didn't have cell phones or the internet and we learned how to spell and read..... if your child is having problems with reading and spelling because of texting and the internet, then you don't change the entire english language around the world to suit this problem..... you take to damn internet and cell phone away from them until they do learn.
Cripes, some people are just dim.
