Oh, c'mon. You can't expect a personage with all the weighty and urgent responsibilities of Governor-General of the Dominion of Canada and Living Embodiment of the Shiny Hat Of An Island An Ocean Away to interrupt their weighty and urgent responsibilities for the sake of what that great leader, President Trump, called "suckers and losers."
No interruption of duties necessary, Tec. All they had to do once they noticed the 2 minutes of silence was underway was to stop where they were and stand still until it was over. Obviously waaay to much to ask of those who assume they are entitled to act however they want.

The United States will eventually try to take over Canada for it's resources...water, etc.

But Canadians are fierce fighters. It'll be like the movie 300. We'd all rather die than be the 51st State.

Alaska should be ours anyway. It seems Russia never really had the right to sell it as all that land was given to the Briddish in one of the treaties by a chief way back when.

There was no way the Russians wanted Alaska to be British territory. In the 19th Century Russia was an arch-rival to Britain in a similar way as to how the USSR was an arch-rival to the USA in the 20th Century. The Russians detested the idea of the superpower gaining territory just a few miles from their territory, so they sold Alaska to the Americans. It's also why Alaska never became part of Canada, because Canada was British territory.

On the other hand, had Britain and Russia been allies in the 1860s then Alaska may now be one of the five nations which would make up the United Kingdom.

I know this sounded familiar. This is a book from about 40 years ago:
Now that knowledge of the treaty has once again emerged, the President of the United States orders NUMA and Dirk Pitt to attempt to recover the copies of the treaty, which have both lain submerged for more than 70 years. The treaty becomes the cornerstone in the President’s plan to save the United States from national bankruptcy by proposing an audacious plan, to merge the United States and Canada into one nation, "the United States of Canada."
