Well we are now under 2 weeks for the leadership race conclusion. It's been pretty static as far as the polls can tell, without a lot of movement and with Pierre clearly in the lead. No word yet on how many ballots have been returned but based on past years and by the number of memberships sold i'd guess around 422,500 votes will be cast.

So - predictions times.

Will pierre take it in the first ballot? Or will it go to a second or third?
who will be runner up? Charest and leslyn are surprisingly close and she's working hard to get her vote out.
What are the chances they'll get all the votes counted on the 10th? :) we've seen problems before, and it'll look bad if they can't manage it.
Will PP actually get 3 years to prepare? Or will trudeau pull the rug this fall or spring?

pull out your crystal balls and lets see what people think.

I think (Win, Place, Show) it’ll go PP, then Charest, then Lewis (with Charest & Lewis almost at a photo-finish). The difference between Charest & Lewis is that she’ll have gotten to where she is on her own merit & Charest on the good will of the Liberal Media.

Then, Trudeau will call another Federal Election about Easter 2023 once he’s able to sufficiently demonize Jagmeet for something or another….then do the old “vote for the Lib’s ‘cuz the Conservatives are going to….with no basis in reality” like usual.

I actually think there's a good chance that it'll go to round 2. There's a lot of people who want PP to win and expect him to, but put someone else as their first choice knowing they won't win but wanting to show support. I think the first out will be scott - and i don't think his supporters will be huge PP supporters so it may even go to a third round, but if it does it'll be an overwhelming PP victory at that point.

It'll be interesting to see if they show how things would go if it had 'continued' - like take it all the way to the 5th ballot even after he's won just to show how people would have voted.

I came across an issue that if discussed could make the entire process moot.

I haven't paid party fees in two years and they still emailed me the ballot link as if I were still a member, which worked. So technically nonmembers are voting for leaders.

Oopsies!

That wouldn't invalidate it unless it happened on a very large scale. It's crappy but mistakes do happen. But one in 650 thousand isn't going to turn the tide :)

What do you mean it 'worked' tho?

Its digital ya fool. Are you 900 years old or what?
No, that's just a survey. The actual vote ballot is paper. Someone must have an old membership list and sent you a link :) there is no electronic voting in the membership election.

Not if he just sent you a poll. Sorry. That just means he thinks you MIGHT be a member. Recall that the official membership lists were severely delayed due to the number of new members. The candidates used a mix.

So... you haven't got a ballot and you didn't vote in the race. You voted in an online poll at one point. And it doesn't sound like you got sent official documentation from PP stating you are a "current" member.

Doesn't look like there's been a problem so far.
