Roger was found not guilty. Although I am so far from a Roger Clemons fan I do like how he stood up to Congress and said "Prove it... you got nothing on me". Then he was found not guilty when they took him to trial.

Roger Clemons was not found innocent of using steroids. He was found Not Guilty, in other words a jury decided that there was insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that Clemons had lied to Congress. In the court of public opinion.. everyone knew Clemons was in decline as a pitcher in his early 30s when Boston did not resign him.. and that he had a remarkable resurgence in his mid to late 30s.

It bears all the hallmarks of performance enhancing drugs. I'd be surprised if he's elected to the Hall of Fame.. because it is generally assumed that he cheated. Like Barry Bonds, someone else cleared of lying under oath, but not of cheating.. both will always be associated with the Steroids era in baseball.. where no records are above suspicion.. especially those involving home runs.

''Whether the UCI will recognize USADA’s ban remains to be seen. The international governing body fought a pitched battle with the U.S. agency over jurisdiction in the Armstrong case and could refuse to honor its decision or appeal it to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.''

USADA officially bans Lance Armstrong for life, strips him of Tour titles

Contrary to ColdStream's belief, UCI has NOT decided to accede to the decision because it has not agreed that it has jurisdiction over the case.

The ICU is all bluff and bluster.. but in a sport, perhaps more than any other except weightlifting, whose public perception has been corroded by doping.. it has no choice. If it does not follow the USADA finding and sanctions it will be stripped of its membership in the WDA.. and declared an outlaw sport.

This is at a time when it seems stringent new testing protocols istituted by the ICU, which requires bike racers in the Grand Tours (Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, Vuelta d'Espagna.. ) to submit to chemical profiles as bench marks prior to competition.. and which makes masking EPO or steroid use much more difficult. It actually seems to having an effect as the power ratings on climbs are much lower now than in recent years... and the predictability of the performance of competitors much less certain.

The ICU is not going to sacrifice itself for Lance Armstrong.. who they know has been cheating for the duration of his career.

The onus must always be on the accuser to prove guilt rather than the accused to prove innocence.

Armstrong has given up trying to defend himself in order to get his life back. Also he probably saving a fortune on lawyer's fees.

If he has nothing to hide, prove your innocence and then have the courts close the book on this and double jepordy or however you spell it, so that nobody can bring this crap up ever again so he can live in peace.

Armstrong was accused of a crime - in that instance the burden of proof is with the accuser, not the defendant. UCI has already closed the book on his case as statutory period expired.

UCI banned a number of riders who are FAR more popular in Europe than in USA. While it is true Armstrong brought in $$$ to that organization, those others combined generated a lot more money.

earth,

100% correct. But bear in mind that Armstrong's charity group has earned MILLIONS more in recent days than it has in many months. His time is very well spent earning much $$$.

they all cheat in cycling, and some other sports too. He actually did win the tour de france 7 times, against
all of the others who were cheating, just like him, so it was an equal playing field, just as it would
have been if he and all the others hadn't cheated, he still would have won.

His mother explained that he always had much more endurance as a child than all of his competitors/friends,
and didn't get tired even when the others had packed it in, she explained this a long time ago, not just
recently to make excuses for him, it was part of a special about him, so I do believe her, and she probably
had no clue that he and the others were taking banned substances.

The blame goes to everyone involved in sports, the athletes, the coaches, the sponsors everyone around knows about it,but when the cheating is exposed, they all turn against the athletes.

bunch of grade A hypocrites.
