The U.S. has far more serious issues facing the country than the issue of gay marriage.

War in Iraq

War in Iran looming possibility

Being overrun and co-opted by Mexican nationals in illegal and budget busting systematic takeover

Terrorist attack still on high alert

Trade agreements falling apart

and the most poorly managed one of all - Energy (Oil) consumption

Sorry gay activists..... back of the bus with your hopes.... and I wish that was all we had to discuss. The gay activists were the people to bring up that topic before the elections and as activists they will again - that is their lobbying right and good for them. It is not the primary issue of election consideration however.

Must make Canadians enjoy some shadenfreude to see the country on its knees.

I don't want to cause a debate because of this, but the US did it to themselves and the only reason why is because of our president, he's letting all of these problems happen and not stopping them before they happen.

Re: American Issues

Perhaps now would be a good time to discuss domestic issues, rather than things such as terrorism and security (while I would never endeavour to undermine the importance of those topics, of course); I would suggest that His Excellency the Honourable George Bush, the President of the United States of America, should perhaps return some of the attention of his administration to issues inside the United States, rather than those abroad, in order to ensure that another election is not fought on this contentious issue — I think that this could perhaps restore some faith in whatever the next administration may be.

FiveParadox, I'm sure you've heard of the Log Cabin
Republicans, a gay group within the American Republican
Party ?

This group is quite effective underneath the headlines.

They take a lot of crap from other gays, but this
group is smartly showing those who don't understand
this issue, that gays can have a wide array of opinion
about non-gay stuff and can be just as valuable to
society and ultimately change society in concert with
the liberal gay groups.

I'm up to here with these special identifiers....

What's with politicizing homosexual people in the first place?

Hetero people don't start making sexual issues on the platform for the leaders' ability to get the issues accomplished do they?

I can see the Slogans.... Vote for Harry - he'd be a great husband !!

I just don't get it homosexuality as an issue.

Let the people who love each other make a commitment and godspeed.

Call it Marriage, call it Committed, call it Partnership - but just stop this hopping around and make it legal. It demeans the people who are sincere and in love and it demeans the officials who are terrified to make a stand.

Why are people trying to legislate love for heaven's sake....

Get the heck out of the bedrooms whoever you are....

Arn't you generalization a little too much? I think many long the glory days I highly doubt very many would really want Stalin back. If they did the Communist party would get more then 20% of the vote.
