If you have your economy structured around oil and gas then you aren't doing so hot right now.

Your entire livelihood depends on one number and that number keeps going down.

Sounds like Ontario with their dead manufacturing industries. Which according to the left should be booming now that the price of oil is low killing Dutch Disease.

It's the price paid for contract work. You get more money but you better save some of that away for a rainy day as you have no benefits.

You can pay into EI just like anyone else if you choose to. Most don't.

... and that makes you happy someone, does I?



BTW, before you sh!t all over me for it as well, I have three close relatives, all workers in various branches oif the oil industry, all experienced for decades, third and fourth generation Westerners (although, that only make a difference to an A!bertan separatist) ... layed off with dim prospects. The East is doing okay right now and the West is experiencing a calamity. I take no joy in it and neither should you when it happens in reverse.

Actually the west is doing fine.Alberta is East of us.
