Why isn't our illustrious Prime Minister ensuring Kinder Morgan RIGHT NOW that the pipeline will definitely go ahead? Kind of telling isn't it? Methinks he'll likely flip flop his way out of this endeavour!

It's a question if when, not if

Trudeau, cabinet meet to talk Trans Mountain

B.C. bracing for response from Ottawa and Alberta in Trans Mountain push

There should be protesters lined up to help prevent this

I can hardly wait to watch the brain dead out in Burnaby and YVR weeping for Gaia when the go-ahead is announced.

Kinder’s Pipeline Pause Puts Pressure Squarely on Trudeau to Act, Somehow

April 9, 2018 by Josh Wingrove and Natalie Obiko Pearson
(Bloomberg)
Justin Trudeau has a lot riding on the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. But the Canadian prime minister has few viable options to save it.
Kinder Morgan Inc. halted most work on the project Sunday, ramping up pressure on the federal government to somehow deter provincial opposition and protests from environmentalists before a May 31 deadline. Trudeau’s energy strategy is at stake, along with overall business confidence and the price of Canadian oil landlocked in neighboring Alberta.
His problem is that opposition from British Columbia has been mostly talk, leaving Trudeau essentially in a war of words that’s been enough for the Houston-based company to warn the uncertainty has become too great. Trudeau’s team backs the pipeline and flatly promises it will be built, though with the project already approved its options are few beyond trying to cajole the Pacific coast province.
“The consequence of their indirection has created a problem of certainty for the proponent. That problem is real,” Natural Resources Minister Jim Carr said Monday in an interview at his Ottawa office. “We will look at every option available to the government of Canada — financial, regulatory, legal.”
Shares of Kinder Morgan Canada Ltd. fell 13 percent Monday, the biggest decline since its initial public offering last May.

He will be judged at the polls.

In the meantime, assuming that Horgan and Burnaby keep playing these games, the price of gas will be heading North in a substantial way.

We will see if Notley has the balls

BTW....halting construction is a necessity during spring thaw.

What a coincidence, eh?

Even more telling is that he has been coasting on the hollow message that this pipeline has been "approved by the regulatory body and is moving forward", while at the same time has made a major announcement that he is in the process of dismantling said regulatory body (NEB) and replacing it with a new process that ensures ALL stakeholders, regardless of how small and regardless of their position...all will have a chance at killing any future projects based on environment and gender impacts, among countless other concerns people can dream up.

Trudeau Liberals to Overhaul National Energy Board

Trudeau has called an emergency meeting to address this, but I think this is likely too little, too late. Trudeau is going to own this file, no one else. It I predict Kinder Morgan is in all likelihood dead, and this will be the beginning of a very hostile, very ugly economic trade battle within this country. Way to go Trudeau, you absolute dumb*ss.

Rex Murphy: Our economy is at stake, Confederation strained, and whose fault it is?

The question is: Who has authority to decide Canadian energy policy?

Governments or Green-machine protesters?

That is the question: Which bunch will it be, Canada’s parliaments, or those who self-appoint as the green guardians of whatever place on Earth — usually in Canada — they choose to exercise their very particular kind of media-and-protest-pressure politics? Will it be government? Or Green end-of-days monomaniacs? We had an answer on Sunday when Kinder Morgan announced that the relentless harassment of its proposed pipeline has moved to the company to the very edge of outright cancellation.

And it wasn’t government.

"And then there is the hypocrisy of the B.C. NDP

As it talks about protecting the province’s environment as the key reason for opposing the Trans Mountain pipeline, it doesn’t seem to see the hypocrisy of supporting the mining of its own natural gas reserves and building a new pipeline — yes, a pipeline — to a new tanker terminus on the coast.

If it benefits British Columbia, no problem.

But, if it benefits the rest of Canada, the rest of Canada be damned."

The entire issue is completely political.

That said, we are seeing first hand the quality and experience level of the politicians in both provinces by virtue of the child-like behavior.

In Horgan's case, he is unidimensional enough on the issue that he's willing to sacrifice the folks in the lower mainland in terms of super expensive gas.

Oh well, not my problem

All Canadians share the benefits.

Only BC is exposed to the risk.

I have to laugh every time I read a comment by some no-brain idiot who writes that the majority of BCers elected this dolt, Cap. Fact is that the NDP are hanging on by their toenails.

Current Party Standings:

Libs - 42
NDP - 41
Green - 3
Independent - 1

I hear ya Mo... Must be frustrating as a BCer these days.

regardless of where you sit on individual issues, not having a gvt that is looking out for the overall best interests is frustrating.

Oh well, no one ever said politics was a pretty game

Horgan just takes the path of least resistance at the moment. When loggers, miners and commercial fishermen get pissed off he'll be running with his tail between his legs!

Although a trade war is not beneficial for anyone, I am glad that any proposed actions limit it to the localities that are making all the noise.

When the wine restriction was in place, it made the point for Notley, HOWEVER, she penalized the wrong group... It was totally unnecessary in terms that she could have initiated the actions that she is doing now

The Liberals and to a lesser extent the Greens will be the political winners in this case.

Horgan will likely have caused the NDP to be lost in the woods for some time
