ok, so today I decided to pull a TEST of my own, after 3 separate trips to the dealership.

I apparently had a minor problem with my alignment back a little while ago and so I apparently developed a shimmy when I drove. They did all these tests and finally decided that I had 4 "cupped" tires. and said that my issue would continue as long as I had these tires.

WELL,... I said "ok, i'm going to change my tires over front to back vice versa.." and then I took it on the road.

guess what??? NO MORE PROBLEM! the little shimmy I had on my front end when I was driving highway speeds disappeared! The only problem lies within 2 tires. maybe even just 1 tire.

so KIA just decided to try and con me into buying 4 new tires when I didn't need to.

I may have 1 tire that needs replacement? but definitely NOT 4!

stupid dumbasses!

I was going to get my tires done at my dealership as I usually did, but couldn't find decent priced rims through them. So, i went to a sale where Bob was selling nice chrome rims at less than $100 each. He tried to sell me rubber for them, but I already had my all seasons from before that were in good shape, and I explained I'd just take it back to the dealership as their mounting and balancing was cheaper than what he was quoting for mounting and balancing.... Bob did it for free just so that I wouldn't go to the dealer and risk wrecking his rims. They really DO NOT have faith in the quality of dealership tire install.

Chilliagon: You didn't give us much information. Something had to make the tires cup, usually low air pressure or out of alignment. If you have an AWD it is a good idea to change all four. To change just one would be foolish on either front or all wheel drive. But generally speaking the dealer is not the place to go for tire problems.
Dealer mechanics generally consider tire changing as punishment duty.

Tire Cupping is generally a "steer" tire issue, so the claim that you
had "4" Cupped tires is pretty fishy at best. Cupping is usually an
issue heard from those operating class 8 tractors, and not KIA's
like yourself.

What kind of mileage have you put on these tires so far?

cupping can be caused by weak or shot shocks. Alignment problems usually manifest in uneven tire wear to the inside or outside of tire. Underinflation results in uneven wear on both inner and outer edge, overinflation, uneven wear in the center of tread.

I'd like to hear Lone Wolf's opinion here, as he might have some input
that none of us have thought of due to the sheer volume of personal
mileage he's put on the road in days gone by.

lets see. they already did 2 Wheel alignments (free) and two tire balances on all 4.

I have only about 19,200 km on the tires.

their claim that all 4 tires are shot, was just their attempt to sell tires.

the back tires used to be on the front for the first 12,000 kms. I moved them back to the front yesterday and my issue no longer exists,
