Kaslo hospital cutting E.R. hours

It's being reduced from 24/7 to daytime hours. I find this decision particularly dumb and unsensitive. Kaslo is located about 40 miles over a treacherous and crooked highway from the nearest major hospital. It is a town of approx. 1000 people where adverse winter conditions are normal. This not only increases the risk of emergencies but can also deter people from travelling for help. What it is, is bullsh*t!

Just imagine how much worse it will get when the greenies manage to deal even more death blows to the petroleum industry in BC. Tax revenue from natural gas is down the past year from nearly a billion to 200 mil, granted that reflects a price decline but should also be a wake up call to those who will not accept that their modern life is irrevocably tied to tax revenues from the big boys, not the average working person.
Now i will not say that the BC liberals have been without warts, they need a serious slap upside the head, but the current vote gathering tactics of the NDP, which rely heavily on the very antis that will not compromise, does not leave me with much hope for the future.
Now we have the public service unions waiting in the wings for the NDP to give them wage hikes in return for support.

They can promise better health care all they want but it will mostly have to come from better management because the money will be in short supply. Ya like actual better management will happen with any government.
Oh, wait, we also have the occupy kiddies waiting for their agenda to be addressed. A quick phone call to the Greek finance minister may provide a cure huh?

You got that right, Skook. Political ideals aside, most N.D.P. tactics do not work, plain and simple. If Gordo or Christy raised taxes (the H.S.T. for example) everyone screamed. How would the Dippers be able to raise taxes without the screaming?

Ah, for fig's sake. I don't care what gov't is in power. Not one seems to want to be fiscally responsible and tend to the populace's needs at the same time. They either cater to the minorities, unions, or companies and screw the main population.
Anyway, the current trend seems to want to centralise healthcare, have a handfull of centers treating everyone, and have first-aid stations everywhere else (which makes sense considering where most people want to live). That pretty much causes grief to anyone that isn't near a major center.
Basically, that's blowing taxpayers' dough on ludicrous projects, handing off expenses to outlying areas, and overpaying the dipsticks who plan all this crap.
People don't give a crap about farming, ranching, and other healthier lifestyles. They want convenience, being fed from plastic containers, iPads, X-Boxes, and other toys, being lazy and nannied, drugs, etc. instead of healthy living, good food, healthy living, fresh air & water, etc.

My sentiments exactly, my philosophy all along has been that governments aren't capable of running much and many people aren't capable or aren't inclined to look after themselves, eat at Big Macs until they reach 300 lbs and then expect an ambulance outside their door to haul them into the nearest clinic for a heart transplant. However I do think Kaslo being where it is, needs E.R. 24/7.
