I think the Conservatives have nothing to gain by debating abortion law. If I was Harper I'd tell my crew to let this news cycle die and get on with other issues.

yep i agree with you, but seems trudeau wants to get this going in the election debate, and it will
again bring out the arguement, which will take a lot of attention away from all that he doesn't know,
as a politician, about other issues.

True, he tossed out the bait and all the Conservatives jumped on it.

I believe that the NDP and Cons will be best served by allowing Trudeau to keep this alive all on his own... The more he (Trudeau) focuses on it, the deeper he digs that hole.

It will be one more attack point that will be aired on the (attack) ads within the next year.

I think if we just be patient Junior's own mouth will kill him (politically).

Justin Trudeau appears to think that if a right is enumerated in the Charter, or has been described as such by a court, that issues surrounding the scope of that “right” thereby have been elevated out of the common arena of debate. In this ways, the phrase “in the Charter” becomes a sort of intellectual force field.
That’s a dubious line of reasoning. And in this case, it’s especially problematic — because the idea that the right to abortion is protected by the Charter in all cases simply is not true. As the National Post editorial board has pointed out, every single one of the Justices who authored an opinion in the 1988 Morgentaler case explicitly indicated that Parliament has a role to play in setting limits on abortion.
But even if that were not true, what can we make of this “progressive” political instinct, which seeks to assure us that the Charter has spoken — decisively, clearly — on such a crucial ethical matter, utterly forevermore, past all the claims of future counter-argument or evolving mores and ethics?

Trudeau is an idiot.

A dangerous idiot.

How many times must this oh-so-obvious fact be demonstrated to the people of Canada before they reject him??

I think they are simply not paying attention.....yet.

Canadians will not reject him until there is a better option to Harper... put an ape in a suit, run him against Harper, they are going to win...

all of our politicians run out of turns, Harper has run out...

here in Ontario the liberals will not be back in, they screwed us over for billions... it will be Conservatives maybe by a hair, if they can jam it over but with the threats to health care and jobs I don't even know if we won't end up with NDP once again...unions are strong and people are scared...threaten to take away jobs... people panic

it's all well and good for those with their indexed pensions to want cuts here and there...threaten their pensions and see how fast their opinion turns

we are in a mess

Well put as a typical "Harper is evil" spouter.
