Yes indeed it was the screening that failed. How many lives did those gay men who donated, clean or not still save? There are blood products that can made from HIV+ blood that won't spread HIV.

I would not want one of them. If the person is HIV+, gay or straight, I want nothing to do with their blood or any body fluid.

Since CBS can test for HIV, I don't see any reason for the restriction.

I was given 7 units of blood after I signed a release for the hospital. I thought about it for a few seconds, " I can die now without the blood, or I can die later of AIDS". I signed for the blood. So far so good! Its been about 8 years and I am still kicking,.
