Is the Mormon faith predominantly racist?.

"Wasn't it King David who had several hundred wives? And David is one of the biggest heroes in the Bible. This is the same David from David and Goliath."

He had about half a dozen. It was his father who had 700 wives and 300 concubines.
Could it be that he wanted his genome to be duplicated 700 times to insure a long human web that started by him?
I suppose that can be classified as an extreme self serving philosophy.

There is very little in Mormonism that any rational person should take seriously. Unfortunately, there are no rational religions that I know of.

It sure is, and speaks loud to the fibber of morality of the self-righteous,,
I couldn't agree more, yet here you are.

There is very little in Mormonism that any rational person should take seriously.
Couldn't agree more. As was so slyly said in an episode of South Park the focused on Mormonism...Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, duuuumb....

Unfortunately, there are no rational religions that I know of.
I disagree. Unless you're focusing on the organized versions.

What? You don't believe in Fairy Tales and happy Ever Afters?
It's not a matter of belief Cliffy, it's in how one lives with it that you find the Happy ever after.

  Riiiiiiiight........ because throwing tobacco into the water after catching fish to give thanks is FAR more rational than anything in the "organized" religions.

What? You don't believe in Fairy Tales and happy Ever Afters?

and your beliefs are completely founded in science and fact......right cliffy?

So the fact that you have "rationalized" the defense of the position of the Pontiff as Gods rep on earth and thus untouchable is?

Which is the type of rationalization I think Bar was referring to.

It might also surprise you that I was even thinking of my own faith, when I wrote that. ;-)

Nothing "zoomed" by me Gh.

Because to me organized religion describes the core of the institutional belief system. And yes, the majority are irrational. Shall I list the irrational claims alphabetically?

Like I said....zooooooooom.

organized or unorganized belief systems could ALL be said to be "irrational" to those that are not of that particular belief system.

My comment pointed out the hypocrisy of someone pointing this out about one belief system when they sit in the same boat with their own. This would include the atheists around here as well as the non.

Fine I'm a hypocrite, I've been called worse. I think I'll sleep well at night knowing my particular irrationality isn't causing or perpetuating the suffering of millions of people though Gh. ;-)

Wrong...it does....you just rationalize that it doesn't and is for the greater good.

Do you really want to get into a "my beliefs are better than your beliefs"?

Ya ok. Throwing tobacco in the water chokes fish starving millions, respecting all living things perpetuates that suffering of millions, ya, ya, you have a lock on the absolutism of faith...

Do you really want to get into a "my beliefs are better than your beliefs"?
Not really, hence my sarcasm directed at your attempts to do so.

Besides, mine says I can rape, pillage, take slaves and still get into heaven. It took the white man to mess that up...;-)

My personal beliefs are based on my personal experiences in life. The only science I recognize is what has proven true in those experiences.

Geezus Gh, I'm not a mind reader. My belief system actually crosses several religious foundations, from Catholicism to Buddhism to Traditional Native Spirituality. Which part of my spiritual belief system is it you wish to address?

And if you're thinking about that aspect of me that is best described as "Warrior". Don't bother, I concede. Seeing as I can't honestly separate the two. Unless you really want to have an argument. But I would just end up looking like SJP and that just isn't palatable to me.

There ya go, and you didn't have to be a mind reader.:p

When being judgmental about others beliefs, one REALLY needs to look deep and hard at their own first. If that was done, there would be far fewer "bash the <insert religion here>" threads.
