I'm thinking of setting up my own rap band. I can't think but that I can rhyme a helluva lot better than a spool of crack-lit, ass-saggin' powderheads. Given the commercials on lately featuring some mean, nasty lookin', older white mamas stompin' their booty, it has to be time.

It's pretty obvious that you have to be a woman to 'understand' the hurt and humiliation these
songs, and other such comments cause, as these posts show. There is nothing wrong with the
posts, but the only one who really 'gets' it, is also a woman.

I totally believe you. I think though there are a lot of woman that eat the stuff up to. Woman that have no trouble calling each other their b*tch, who think their all that, flaunt it and are looking for the man that is all that. Maybe the want the bad @$$ or the guy with the money, or the mussels. I think there are a group of girls that just love having guys drool over them and take pleasure in turning people down with a laugh or a rude comment. Otherwise why would we have movies with names like "mean girls"?

The people who write and publish these songs, have to at least know, one woman like me,and most of the women I know,
but I get what your saying, as I don't know any women like 'THAT', and if I did, I would
be ashamed of them.

Josephine, remember this is music, and in yours and Durka's world, there might be connection but not necessarily disproportionate cause...when making certain assumptions. Hmmmmmmmmm...
Not too sure what you're talking about here tamarin. I live in the same world as everyone else, just a different view. Care to elaborate on your statement?

I agree. I think that most women don't appreciate being called the names and being so humiliated and disrespected that way. I think the women who "don't mind" being called these horrible names have some issues to deal with.
I think as women we are taught that we have to compete with eachother, for men, for jobs (everyone saying there are so few of each). When we should be respecting and accepting of eachother. That's hard and I've been guilty of being "catty" myself. :-(
It's there sheer acceptance of the horrible treatment of women in general that angers me.

Oh! And when people call a woman a ***** or a ****, just because they're mad at her! The reason they're mad may have nothing to do with her being a "****" and yet, they need to degrade a woman sexually.

I love most rap and to say that its not like it used to be is total bs. whoever says that, is not listening to the right artists or just does not understand. Different background, I guess.
The way some rap portaits society is no different than other music geners have done in the past. Rap/Hip hop just does it better. The fact is: rap is what rock used to be....and some people dont like that. Someone on one of these posts, went so far to say that there has'nt been anything good since Public Enemy?! Give me a break......ever listen to most of Tu Pac's music and actually hear the words? You probably cant relate and will never understand!
