Continuously lose election after election? They have only recently lost the house a few years ago and just recently the presidency.

Indeed EagleSmack. Republicans suffered two huge losses one after the other, an almost unheard of feat.

Normally when a party wins a huge victory, there is inevitably some pull back two years later. Thus when Reagan won a huge victory in 1980, Republicans lost 27 seats in the House in 1982. This in spite of the fact that Reagan was still enormously popular. Same in 1996. After Republicans won a huge victory in 1994, they lost a number of seats in the House in 1996, they came close to losing the House.

Contrast this with 2008. After suffering a humiliating, crushing defeat in 2006 (where they lost control of the Senate against all expectations), Republicans suffered even a bigger defeat in 2008. Where Democratic control of the Senate was precarious (51:49), in 2008 Democratic control became absolute, with filibuster proof majority (60:40).

So yes, the Republican defeat in 2006 and 2008 was unprecedented in US history. Bush did to your party what Mulroney did to the PC party here in Canada. He crushed the spirit of your party.

Republican approval ratings are even lower thanks to Sanford and Palin.

:)

So say our new Socialist Democrats. She is still better looking than anything the Democrats have to offer. We tried intellect last time, lets go for looks next.

Might as well, ironsides. Your side tried looks, acting with Reagan and it worked. So why not give good looks, extremism and hypocrisy a chance in the form of Joan of Arc? It may very well work, who knows.

I do have to say it is enjoyable seeing the Democrats flounder and try to bring back the old arguments. The ones they used to use when they were out of power. Now they have no clue on how to run the country and the people of the US are starting to notice and we are only 6 months into it!

So happy days are here again, eh EagleSmack? Aren’t you happy that your party lost big time in 2006 and 2008? If your party had won, you wouldn’t have been able to watch Democrats flounder.

Anyway, so I assume you would wish Democrats to be in power for a long time? That will provide plenty of entertainment for you.

I just think it is time to kick back and relax and enjoy the show.

Just time to watch the hapless Democrats struggle and eat each other.

Stuart Smaleey just got awarded the MN Senate seat by the MN Supreme Court and not the voters. Gee where did that happen before?

It is locked up now. The GOP can just wash their hands of everything now until the pendulum swings their way. And it will...oh it will.

Look again -- they just got another senator while the Repukeblicans lost a southern governor once thought to be its top runner for 2012.

Obviously he stole it.

FRANKEN STOLE THE ELECTION, FRANKEN STOLE THE ELECTION!!!!!!!

Do I have to repeat this endlessly whenever I'm in danger of losing an argument?

Stole the election just as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad did on a recount. The 2008 election is finally officially over. Now the Democrats have another ultra liberal rubber stamp.

For the first time I agree with you, EagleSmack. It is not about Republicans any more ,it is about Democrats. They will implement their agenda. If people like it, they will keep Democrats in power, if they don’t they will put Republicans back in.

You personally can only hope that Democrats screw thing up, so that your party can get it.

Don’t count Sanford out just yet, Gopher. Republicans base is not bothered about hypocrisy, they don’t even understand the concept (as may be clear to you by what some of the far right posters said in this very thread).

Look at Gingrich, the biggest hypocrite of them all. He was ranting and raving against Clinton for having sex with his intern, while Gingrich himself was doing practically the same thing (with his wife ill in the hospital). However, Gingrich is more popular than ever with the base, he is a front runner for 2012 nomination.

So don’t be surprised if Sanford is also a front runner for 2012 nomination. Personally, I am looking forward to Palin – Sanford ticket in 2012. Obama will eat them for lunch.

The decision was expected, EagleSmack, all the lower courts ruled in favor of Franken, Coleman did not win a single victory in the courts. So it would have been very surprising if the Supreme Court had ruled differently.

This is totally unlike 2000. There Florida Supreme Court had ordered a recount. The US Supreme Court, in a rank, disgusting display of political partisanship, voted by 5 to 4 vote to overrule the Florida Supreme Court and award the presidency to their buddy, Bush.

The Republicans on the US Supreme Court are forever bleating about states’ rights. However, when it came to awarding presidency to their buddy, Bush, all the talk of states’ rights went right out the window.

But I suppose it all worked out in the end, Bush practically destroyed the Republican Party. So the ill gotton victory did not do Republicans much good.

Provided Obama will have his indispensible teleprompters, written for him by underlings far smarter than he.

This half-breed (claiming to be black for immunity) could not eat his morning cereals without a teleprompter.

Mickey Mouse should be able to beat Obama in 2012 if his policies do not change.
President Obama's pledge to halve the budget deficit by 2013 is hardly ambitious. The budget deficit will quadruple in 2009 to $1.75 trillion, and cutting that level in half would still leave deficits twice as high as under President Bush. Furthermore, three expected developments—the end of the recession, withdrawal of troops from Iraq, and phaseout of temporary stimulus spending— would halve the budget deficit by 2013. The President's budget shows deficits averaging $600 billion even after the economy recovers and the troops return home from Iraq.[13] That is not good enough.
President Bush presided over a $2.5 trillion increase in the public debt through 2008. Setting aside 2009 (for which Presidents Bush and Obama share responsibility for an additional $2.6 trillion in public debt), President Obama's budget would add $4.9 trillion in public debt from the beginning of 2010 through 2016— nearly double the amount accumulated under President Bush over the same number of years. Overall, the public debt level would double over the next decade to $15.4 trillion ($12.5 trillion in inflation-adjusted dollars). (See Chart 1.) At 67 percent of GDP, this would constitute America's largest debt burden since immediately following World War II.[14]

It would appear that the shoe is on the other foot. You have spent years attacking and criticizing Bush and never made even the slightest attempt to offer meaningful solutions. I guess you are starting to realize how amusing people like you are.
But the American voters did something about it. They voted in a democratic house and senate as well as president. That is the solution to all the problems.
Obama has a long way to go to be considered protectionist after junior. It was republicans who screwed us with the softwood lumber deal. True they already had Harper and that TRAITOR Emmerson on their payroll to grease the skids.
