Not quite. Almost everything attributed to 'the Muslim world' was, in fact, developed before the advent of Islam. In the case of "arabic" numerals, they came from India, but it was Arabs who passed it on to Europe around 500AD. The so-called Muslim "golden age" was pretty much over by 1200. It was killed off by Islamic fundamentalism, by Sufism as preached by Al-Ghazali. Al-Ghazal was a very influential Islamic scholar, who basically said that there were no natural laws, but that everything happened because God wanted it to, and that was all anyone needed to know.
Since then the Islamic world has stratified. Europe, meanwhile, forged ahead.
As for the Renaissance, wiki says this.

You just need to read the History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire by Edward Gibbon to see how much Islam contributed to the West. Gibbon was wrong on some points concerning Islam; but for a Western scholar of his time, he knew more about Islam and its contribution to Europe than many Canadians today do.

I'd say there's very, very few groups that you can tar the entire group with the same brush! Do you really suspect the Mayor of Calgary is going to start bombing people? I'd feel as safe around him as anyone else!

Maybe no worse than Bones! Well, I'm kind of bemused about how simply stating historical facts has the lefties screaming and gnashing their teeth and baying at the moon. I'd have said the same about the Picts when the Romans put up Hadrian's wall to keep them away.
